Newbie question RE : FPV Goggle

I did try to goggle for answers, but unable to get answers that I want to know.
Questions :
1. I assume only certain drones are supported/compatible with FPV Goggle ?
2. If yes to #1, how do I tell if any of my drones are good for the goggle ?
3. If I am using the transmitter, I assume smartphone is not necessary when using the google ?
4. Is Eachine EV100 good for a beginner ?
5. How do I connect the drone with the goggle ?

Thank you.

Goggles can be used with any quadcopter that has a vtx (video transmitter). The goggles contain a receiver that picks up the signal sent from the vtx.

The toy "wifi drones" transmit a wifi signal that your phone can receive.

A racing/freestyle (hobby) drone will transmit a 5.8gh signal (from the vtx) that most goggles will receive because they'll have a 5.8gh receiver.

I haven't tried the eachine goggles but it seems I've heard good things about those.

Thank you both for replying.
I still don't understand...…..

Does that mean a "toy" drone will not be supported by FPV Goggle ?

Example : SJRC Z5 2.4G Wifi GPS drone.

That is correct. It looks like a clone of a dji spark or something.

The Chinese will take an expensive design and make their own version using parts made as cheap as possible.

Not that it's a bad drone or anything, great for beginners so if it breaks you don't destroy $500 worth of high end parts.

OK. I am not quite done yet with this topic. :-)

If I am shopping via internet sites, i.e. Amazon, BestBuy etc, how can I tell which drone is "toy" version and which is "hobby" version, aside from the fact that "hobby" version is more "expensive" which, by the wat, is a relative term ?

Even DJI Mavic Pro from Amazon does not mention anything about the goggle.

The mavic pro is a "professional" style drone for aerial photography.

You basically want to decide what you want to do with it, like do you want to race/freestyle or take hd photos from 400 feet.

For racing/freestyle they'll have brushless motors and a 5.8gh vtx, those are the ones compatible with the goggles.

And yes "expensive" is a relative term in this hobby as you saw the mavic pro is pricey lol.

For a little more you can get the ex2 mini fpv combo, comes with goggles, drone, and transmitter for $100. I personally own one of these and I'll tell you it is a lot of drone for the money:

Thank you very much.

I have found one (Air Hogs DRI) sometime ago but I decided to "file it" away until I have enough skills to fly a drone.
It is a whole lot cheaper. It comes with the headset.

That headset with the airhogs is just a case that straps to your head to put your phone in lol. It is a "wifi toy " drone, I don't recommend it.

Yes, it is a toy wifi no doubt.
But isn't it what the goggle is used for …….. to see what the drone's camera picks up ?
The only difference with AirHogs is that I will be looking at what the smartphone shows via the drone camera.
Either case, I still see the same image. Yes ?

In layman term, wifi takes longer to transmit from point A to point B.
For a newbie like me, I doubt it will not make a difference.
