Newb in Cleanflight

Altsickeness

Quad Addict
Hi guys,

Well I got my first build kit together. (Bought an entire kit off Amazon) http://www.amazon.com/iFlight-Contr...psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00

So I got everything soldered mounted and hooked up and running. It has an SP F3 6DOF flight controller. I read through the manual following these directions. Running Cleanflight first I installed this as instructed:

"Install latest Silicon Labs CP2102 USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers
http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/pages/usbtouartbridgevcpdrivers.aspx"

which I don't really understand, but I was not able to download the Cleanflight firmware without it. It worked!

I got into the set up, have my quad moving, could run up all the motors etc... but could not get my TX to work. I have Radiolink AT9 and have R6D Rx. I got it to bind and double clicked so it would do PPM (blue light on). Anyway, the TX wouldn't work on TX setup so I started messing around in settings ( no idea what I'm doing) and managed to change a UART 1 2 or 3 setting and I lost connection! So I fumbled around disconnected, reconnected and my firmware wont load. When I plug in the USB is says "bootloader failed to load!"

WTH did I do and any ideas on how I can undo it? Part of the problem is I have no idea how to run Cleanflight, set it up etc... as it was my rookie intro to it. I spent a few hours last night googling, but I don't even understand any of this stuff yet. Hopefully I explained my problem correctly.

Here is the SP F3 manual if it helps... http://seriouslypro.com/files/SPRacingF3-Manual-latest.pdf

Let me know if I can provide anything else. I can hunt down links or whatever... I just totally lost on what to do and afraid to try anything else without guidance since that's what I did to get into trouble in the first place!

Can you post a link to your receiver, I'm not coming up with anything for AD6. Might be able to help

Oops! its R6D http://www.helipal.com/radiolink-r6d-2-4ghz-6-ch-ppm-receiver.html

And another correction after Loading firmware I hit the "flash firmware" button and the exact words are, "No response from bootloader, Programming FAILED"

Also having trouble with Hex files... I don't understand what that is. I tried to switch to Betaflight but I need a "Hex driver"??? Downloaded a few things and ended up with Malware that I had to remove. Part of the problem is I don't know what the hell Im doing. If all else fails I might install a CC3D board under the safety of Librapilot. That's harder to screw up. I would like to get this working though or I will forever be in fear of Cleanflight and Betaflight. Ha Ha!

OK, I believe the FC you have is the same as Naze 32 so this should be the same. Look on the bottom side, you'll see 2 pads marked "boot" You need to jump these 2 pads with a piece of wire in order to flash firmware'

As for your "failed to open serial port" message" maybe someone else can confirm, but I believe this means you don't have the correct drivers installed.

Thank you RENOV8R. This made sense after you describing it and the directions are actually in clean flight. I got it erased and rebooted. Found out I had my motors wrong (all of them) and had to switch them all around. When they say CW or CCW its apparently opposite- For CCW motor it turns CW, prop nut CCW. SO I lost 2 prop nuts before I figured it out. I Switched the motors and repowered and smoked an ESC. I've got to get a magnifying glass. My eyes are not what they used to be. I still can't see a slag glop on the ESC, but I assume I must have a hair sized on there.

Anyway, I have progress thanks to you and Jackson. More ESCs on the way and I can continue.

ETA- with all this fumbling around I left my antenna off my VTX. Guess what? It doesn't work now. Doh! :(

I've often wondered what we'd do without YouTube. Getting everything figured out took me almost a month hahaha. I'm researching about tuning of PID setting right now, as I thought I had them set pretty good but set up altitude (baro) hold today and it's not playing very nicely. Too much harsh up and down correction.

BTW why don't they put BIG warning labels on vtx. I've already toasted one too

It would be cool if the vtx had an alarm. Powering up and down focused on connecters, wiring, motors, escs, ppm transmitter setup and tx stuff while taking the top plate on and off so many times, i forgot the antenna one time. Opps! - more money.

I ordered a similar kit yesterday. Mine will come with a CC3D.
At least it's all hardware I am already familiar with. So if it breaks, at least I have spares LOL
Emax 2204/2300
DALRC 12A ESC OneShot 125
CC3D FC
I ordered a Matek v3 PDB to use instead of the one supplied.
YKS 600mw, 32ch VTX
Eachine 700tvl cam

My build will start Tuesday when it arrives. :):D:)
