New to Quads - Asking For Advice.

Hey guys, I'm back.

Thanks again for the assistance!

I've been getting a little air time, and crash time, in.

For other newbs who might be reading, the single most important rule my friend told me AFTER my first crash was after getting it up in the air, give the stick little bumps, don't push the sticks. He said newbs have a tendency to overcorrect. Once you get a feel for how much the sticks affect control, then start moving the sticks with your fingers.

Also, I've been trying to fly on calm days or time of the day so the wind doesn't mess me up too much. It's intuitive, I know, but don't be tempted to try a little more wind than you can handle.

The last thing I've been doing is getting a little altitude, then giving the copter yaw input so it is facing me. Then I just try to keep it in one place. I'm trying to teach myself the "reverse" inputs for when my quad is coming at me.

The next thing I'm going to work on is what I'm going to call a pendulum. Working forward and backward like a pendulum. I'm going to try not to go outside an imaginary box. I'm also going to go side to side with this exercise.

One step at a time!

Hi mate quads fly the same as a CP heli after you put in an input let stick centre ( cyclic stick) once traveling forward to stop this put in a little back stick but always let stick centre after any input

holtneil, totally! It's easier said than done which is why I'm taking it at a slower pace.

I could do it a lot better if I was I the seat. Same with cars, it's just not natural to me to do it from the ground when it's happening somewhere else. I'm capable, but it will take some work.

Once I get the feel of the controls, I'll bump the difficulty up a notch or two.

Hi mate its muscle memory what you brain need to wire up tracks so you can do it with out thinking about what your doing , we all started at this place but we do get there , turn the stick scaling down so the angle of attack is less , there is no flight school for quads shame but they fly the same as a CP heli ( the hover is easy with the quad it took me 6 months of crashes to learn to hover a CP heli) but what you need to do is hover the quad and keep it over the a spot on the ground if it drifts off and you cant bring it back land and put it back on the spot ,then start again it will come always keep it tail in so thats back legs towards you till you can move in a square box and keep bring quad to centre each time then move to this , I know its for a heli but will still work for a quad i did this for a mate in the USA but watch it and copy the flight I do and your soon be flying
now watch the quick video of my 450 quad and its the same thing just much higher up
I forgot to say when you turn always turn so the nose comes towards you the the back legs move away from you so if quad is right of you turn front legs left this will always keep quad facing the way you know how to fly it ( tail in ) you need to master this first and then move onto nose in hover , its harder to wire the brain to do both directions at once , can you get a flight sim and practise on this the crash does not cost then

The first video is about what I was thinking as far as learning to fly. Starting with simple basic moves, changing the angles, then nose in, etc.

Good video! Thank you!
