Im new to this im looking to purchase my first quadcopter dont know what to get i know i want rtf.im not good at building stuff. i bought a cheap helicopter and had fun flying it. so i looked into other ones and found quads and they look easier and more fun . i saw a LaTrax Alias but i read motors are bad. so now i dont know what to get i dont know if i should buy something cheap first or not . i like the return to home feature some of them have and the the ones that u can hover not sure if they all can. and maybe get a camera on it not sure i have around $500 to spend . any advice would be great thanks .

Yes I was talking to hotneil for a couple days I ended up ordering a phantom 1 . But I wish I would have spent the extra for like the vision 2 it looks so cool with the camera and the flying by itself and stuff like that.

Haha, that is the biggest regret I had when building mine. Wishing I had spent just that little extra here and there.

Really depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It is dependant on what you want to do. Building it can allow you to get just what you want, and none of the features you don't need. A bunch of things to consider, but you can sometimes make quadcopter almost exactly like a RTF and it come out cheaper. The biggest thing that determines what a quad can do is the FC (Flight Controller-brain).

I know that may not really answer the question, but it really depends a lot on what you need.

Is it cheaper to build one then buy it ?

For me it seemed cheaper to buy, I didn't really care about gps but now that I have one with gps, Im so glad it has gps, its great. So much fun stuff to do with gps. Does the Phantom let you do custom missions? Whats the brains in it? (flight controller)
