New Drone!

Hi everyone!

We're new to this board but not new in drones. Our team is building a drone with completely autonomous navigation - INDOOR! Using beyond state of the art sensors that just a few years ago were deployed only by the military combined with Machine Vision, our drone will be able to create a real-time map of your house and navigate through it avoiding collision with everything, including you.

I'm here to share our ideas and find like-minded people!

Understanding all the work that's already gone into this project, for what purpose would this drone serve?
Like fly itself around in your house by itself?
Can't crash into anything, no trouble to get into, so where's the challenge to fly it?

Like launch it and wait for the batteries to expend themselves?

I must be missing something,,,,,,,

I think google or amazon launched a similar thing recently to fly around your house for the sake of checking things out if out of town often or for extended period and want some way to monitor a probably large house :D

I'm guessing it isn't really too practical for the average Joe, but there's always a place for some luxury things that can be gifts for the person with everything or that sort of thing.

As a person who enjoys the challenge of flying and personal improvement I wouldn't be the target but always interested to hear about "SLAM" (simultaneous location and mapping) technology. It's definitely more useful in an industrial environment but again can also be something fancy for the ultra rich to explore their mansion care free (or for security, say celebrities or politicians)

Thanks for your question. This drone is not for flying it yourself, it is an autonomous robot to watch your home, kids/pets, deliver packages.

Exactly, it's called Ring. But 1) our drone is not just a camera, it's a fully functional flying robot with ability to help you with routine things at home, including delivery 2) ring is still in development

For the average Joe we create
1) monitor your elderly parents/kids/pets when you're away, get alerts if something goes wrong (AI)
2) autonomous delivery by drones from the nearest shop or pharmacy
+
some other things we'll disclose later

Just FYI the pets thing, dogs will absolutely try to take your quad out of the air autonomous or not . As far as my dog is concerned my quads are just very large scary bugs that need to be eliminated with prejudice.

Still, it would be cool to have and autonomous drone orbiting the grounds, avoiding trees and power lines, keeping an eye on the doors and windows in infrared at night. Then landing and recharging every 30 minutes or so and launching again on their mission of protection. It should have real time WiFi connection to your Smart Phone, Tablet, Computer and/or TV to alert you for the need to get out the shotgun. It would also need the ability to recognize a threat and call Police, Fire and/or the National Guard or the Pizza Parlor.

You might think twice about running outside with a loaded gun, I think that's called "Premeditated".
Now if you went outside and every time you go outside you carry a loaded gun, then no it wouldn't be premeditated, it would be called paranoid,,,,,

Avoiding power lines can be done, but that option alone will dramatically increase the cost of the drone. Everything else - completely doable and will be implemented in our drone.

But - no shotguns of course, we're peaceful guys

Hiya @NoviceQuadPilot55 think you responded to this thread but would be better to make a new thread for your topic, can just copy/paste and delete your comment from this thread to not mix topics up (we wander a lot but good to start new thread for new issues so can discuss fully there)
