need some advice for a newbie

Yea..i would start with basic flight set up first and, learn all the other options later..its going to be too much to take in at one time..Even i wouldnt worry about that untill i learned how to fly it first...You need a toy quad first.. @froggy8

The Nova/CX20 is the easiest to fly quad I own. Once you get the GPS locked in and set the altitude hold it's almost boring it's so easy. That said, you still have to learn to fly it no mater what the orientation of the quad is. Crashes are going to happen. I don't know where you live, froggy8, but this is not a quad you can fly indoors if the winters are harsh where you are. Take the advice of Mike H. and pick one of those little guys with some extra batteries and props to fly while getting the basics down and then for indoors this winter. You can crash it and fix it for pennies unlike the CX20. Cheap insurance. Baby steps, froggy. Baby steps.....:)

The problem is I tried to calibrate it using mission planner and I've messed it up, I need to reset the parameter on the quad and then do the calibration, bind the tx again. It really is complicated isn't it?

Hey! We're guys! We don't need no stinkin' directions..... Hahaha!! Stuff happens. Just reset and follow the directions in the manual. You only need to calibrate the compass once then you're good to go. Make sure you're battery is charged and the quad is level when you bind.

had a proper go about 10mins ago and lets say i really need alot of practice. it kept going to the left so bit of trimming and now it more or less goes straight up with only a tiny bit of the right stick. broke the landing gear though

Haha! As crashes go that's not so bad. When you order the new landing gear you might as well get two. Sometimes you can fix it with CA glue, but pieces usually go flying off somewhere. Make sure you have a couple sets of props too.

haha yes it could have got worse but i was flying low but kept hitting walls and ground. i have already got some new props and landing gear but i will try fix this with glue and sellotape first. got some props protector too so will use them on my next run

Haha, I believe forward momentum has more to do with a crash than anything. I have crashed from well over a hundred feet with no problem, and almost totaled the same quad from 5 feet while moving forward hahaha.
