Need advice with Devo 10 - firmware updates

Just had a Devo 10 delivered from China - anybody reading in my other posts/threads will know the background.

Downloaded the upgrade tool and v4.01 - latest "stable" version.

Snag is... the update tool does not recognise the Tx - and so nothing can happen.

Is this "normal" and if so is there a workaround?

Help and Advice appreciated.

Sounds like a driver issue, does the site or product have drivers? If so you may have to disable window's feature that only allows you to install Microsoft signed drivers.

Spot on! I was at it for 9 hours yesterday - then started on the Devo10 - being new to most of this stuff I am guided by YouTube - the visual encyclopedia! Ever vid I checked about this - they used PC _ I never saw one Apple mac. SO I cranked up my old Win & PC which is only alive because I have a a few emails from years ago made for different websites and I cannot remember what mythical ID I created to answer any questions to get a new PW! I hate Google logging eveyname they find and linking 99 other names - all fresh out of Alcatraz. Anyway at about 8pm last night mystically - everything fell into place - the application displayed the Devo 10 name and the buttons ceased being greyed out - and I dumped the Walkera files and installed and updated the Deviation files.
Went for some food and liquids.. came back later and started the PC.. plugged in the TX.... nothing again!
The the Devo forum a newbie o_O who had been helping - suggested I try the java version on the mac! I thought Java was what hackers use to collect funds to buy cruise liners and airports.
Anyway I downloaded the files fired um up..plugged the TX.... there it was... run the update again..."Update Successful" all in less than 5 minutes!

So the real issue was - it seems - not another defective lump of junk from China - but a set of drivers that WIn 7 seems to have trouble with! Now another amazing fact in my dealing with a Chinese store is that
When I used up the refund for the Syma Saga - was that the Devo was shipped out 7th October and delivered on 19th October 12 days seem pretty fast for them!
Just waiting for parts now....

Hahaha, glad you got that part of the problem solved, probles like this usually take an hour or so of troubleshooting and 5 minutes once you actually find the problem hahaha.

If you wanted to run everything off your OSx you could use a Virtual Machine for things like this and have Windows AND Linux so that you could install drivers on at least one of the three easy, Linux is probably the easiest to install drivers if the company makes them for you haha.
