Motor speed not reducing when reducing throttle

Hello everyone :)

I'm new to the hobby and I've been ordering the parts and building my first drone over the past few month. I've finally had the time to finish it off but I think I'm having a problem with the motors not slowing down even when I move my throttle stick to minimum. It appears that once I get above a certain point on the throttle the motors just get faster and won't get slower again.

In case it might help, here are the parts I am using:

Setup
Emax ECO Series 2306 6S 1700KV Brushless Motors
HolyBro Kakute F7 HDV - Tekko32 F3 HDV 4-in-1 40A ESC Stack
DJI Air Unit
DJI Controller

I'm not that great with the terminology so I'm struggling a bit with what to search for that would help me. If anyone could point me in the right direction please I'd greatly appreciate it :)

Hello welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the clear first post hopefully can help get you flying.

Your receiver input looks good to me goes from 1000 at bottom to 2000 at top. I would check the motors tab with props off still and try to control individual motors from there to take the receiver out of the equation and see if it is still ramping up, if so I would suspect something with the ESC protocol chosen in the configuration tab and or need to calibrate ESCs for the input from the Flight Controller (FC). Other thing to know is things can act weird when bouncing around on a table because the FC is getting all sorts of angle changes from the knocking against the table/ground so put it on a pad or hold it while testing (with props off) to see if it is just reacting to angle changes.

Calibration can be done by going to motors tab with battery unplugged, pull throttle to max before plugging in this will set a high point when you plug in and ESCs turn on and play a little tune, then reduce throttle to 0 and will hear a confirmation that low value was set. Believe this may only apply to PWM signals to the ESC but other serial protocols may somehow be effected by this still (if min or max values sent in data are different from expected).

Thank you for getting back to me and sorry for the late reply. I just tried what you, I think you were right about the table. When I put the props on and flew it outside again it was fine and I was able to make the quad go up and down no problem. I did put a throttle limit on it so it didn't shoot off in case I did something back and I think that is helping me while I learn.
