Meteor 5" build

Hello friends and fellow flyer folks of the fine quadcopter forum. It's time to begin my very first build!!

This will be roughly based on the $99 build (although I'm spending slightly more.)


I'm starting with the 5" meteor frame from space fpv:

Thinking about using the
4X Racerstar 2306 BR2306S 2400KV motors:

Next is the racerstar all in one 20 amp escs:

The only thing I have so far is the frame so I decided to post this thread to see if someone can tell me if everything if picked will work well together or should I make any changes.

Im still new to this also but my first thoughts are: The frame looks thin and you may break a arm if you crash. The esc's look a little small for the size motors, maybe go up to 25-30amp. Everything else looks nice. No fpv info listed though. Also I would add an inch or so of wire to the power board battery terminal so you can tie strap it to something so a crash doesnt snap off the lead.
 
Those motors pull 33 Amps so you'll need a higher rated ESC.
You should always rate the ESC higher than the expected pull of the motors so they (the ESCs) don't run hot and also as a safety margin.
In this case you need 35 Amps ones or better yet 40 Amps.

I kinda thought the same however since the meteor frame is the only thing I have so far I'm going to try it.

What it lacks in strength it makes up for by being very lightweight so this thing should be a very light quad.

Hey thanks so I guess that means weaker motors (not happening) or bigger escs?

Okay the hunt for 40amp ESCs is on!!!!!
 
I agree with Gyro. I have that quad build, and been flying it for the last few months. The 4in1 20A esc has held up so far, but there is definitely not enough going through. There is an obvious drop on motor 4 from motor 1. I have to pitch the quad back slightly to keep level.

Oh yeah you'll hear about it but it's going to be at least a month until everything comes in from the slow boat from China.

If this works out I'll have THE FASTEST quad on the block for under $200.:cool:
 
The stickers took me 2hrs trimming it all down. But it will be worth it if someone says build me one if them.
Parts £140 & sell for around £200 depending on how rich they look.
 
Get yourself some 22 size motors & that 20amp 4in1 esc will be ok. Just don't give it max throttle for more than 10 seconds.
