Little Lost Noob

I thought that purple was only for sbus (noob).

Don't feel bad, you'd hope if the guy thought that HE knew what he was doing well enough to make an instructional
video about how to connect these up that he'd get the colors right, but he didn't either ... lol

The Vortex come from the factory pre-plugged in and set for PPM. If you've got the RX set to PPM and using the right
plug position (which it appears you are) it should be working .... take a look at the three wire cable you're using.
I'm used to seeing Black, Red, and White wires, not Yellow but that's no big deal as long as Black (Yellow?) GND
is at the bottom, Red 5 VOLTS IN is in the middle, and White SIGNAL is at the top.

One more thing as I don't see a pic with it connected to the R6DS. sBus is Pin set #1, if you're using PPM, it's pins #3

... I'm STILL cracking up every time I see your avatar ... roflmao ... :p

LOL, why? Do I seem that dumb?

Guess what? I got my Flysky RX and TX and STILL can't make it work! OMGGG The receiver is properly bound and I followed the video below to the letter.

.....Ummm, no you're pretty cute :D
I was referring to Renov8r having an avatar of a dog dressed up to look like an airplane,
even wearing an antique aviators cap and goggles ... lmao ... :p

As for your radio gear, I have no idea at this point ... Maybe you should just toss it all into a box, take it down
to a local hobby shop and have the guy there look at it ?

On my radio link I've had to configure the Arm switch , Throttle etc... to make sure they are in the same direction and switching the right way, either normal or reverse. Had issue where it was set up backwards and would not take off because down was actually full throttle and it was set to not go from arm to FT. If that makes sense. Make sure your radio is configured.

She never got to the point where channel mapping even entered into the picture.
It's a safe bet though that once the hobby guy gets the FC and RX to "play nice" together we'll be hearing
from her again ... lol ... THAT's when it gets even more complicated setting thresholds, channel mapping,
PID tweaking, auxiliary functions, etc ... ;)

Sooo, working with the seller and Vortex support, I apparently need an SBus PPM cable to make it all play nicely. I ordered the cable and will test it out again then. If this doesn't work, the seller is going to let me exchange it. In the meantime, I ordered a RTF Arris 250B racer that will not need to set up and will get me in the air. :p:p:p If I do wind up exchanging the Vortex, I'm sending the RX and SBus PPM cable for them to set it up for me and run the wizard. I'm tired of messing with it. :D

Wow, I wish I had your budget to get all those quads, radios, and gear with.
You certainly are jumping into this full force alright ... lol ... Don't forget you're going to want some goggles
too and those aren't cheap either ;)

I think I have like 7 quads now

Personally, I'd look into trading in a few quads for a really nice set of goggles ... There's some relatively new ones out by
Aomway that actually rival the FatShark Dominators, they're called "Commander V2" they have diversity, good sensitivity,
a built in fan (basically a FS Doms clone) for a whole lot less than Doms (which do not even have diversity).

The Eachine goggles will be cool for whoever comes along with you and let them experience the thrill of FPV too :)

Hiya Doc!

I have been looking around and can only find V1 Commander goggles. o_O I found a cheap set of dom 3s.

In the meantime, I have been doing my homework and finally found a quad that I love and with a few little changes, I am about to start practicing in acro today! :D Here's a little snap of it.

Howdy ! :)
Was wondering how you've been doing .... I like the way you "blinged out" your little quad, one suggestion though, get rid of the "rubber ducky" antenna and put a circular polarized on that puppy.

Acro is going to be a mind bender if you're already a little too used to stabilized flight ... lol ... but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it ;)

Once you're comfortable flying FPV in ACRO mode I think you'll agree it's about the most fun you can have (in public) :p

Hey! Actually, the rubber duckie got rid of it's self. What a terrible place for a VTX! Lol gonna have to re-drill for that mess and broke both of my bad idea antennas, so a new RX is on the way and not going to make them so tall.

Yeah, acro is way different and better! The sensitivity of the controls, I think is going to take a little while to get the hang of but OMG! I love it and also got a Tanaris X9D plus.

A friend from RCGroups is in the process of building me a custom GT2 210 Crusader Villain stretch 5.2mm arms with DYS 30A DShot 600, - HGLRC F3 V4 FC, PDB, OSD, VTX, Sony Super Had, naked FrSky X4R and LDPower FR2305-2600kv motors. Here's a sneak peak.

 ... That thing is going to be a beast !!

I'd advise you to get really good on the other one first before attempting a hot quad like that ... lol ... it would be like learning to drive for the first time using a Ferrari ;)

You are going to absolutely LOVE the Taranis X9D+ !!!!!!!
That's what I use and the thing still amazes me to this day ... There is soooooo much to that radio it sometimes feels like you need to be a rocket scientist just to use half of what it can do, but it's (imho) the best radio out there ... period ... I've installed the upgraded (more sexy) female voice and scripted a bunch of custom responses to it also .... It'll say things like "Was it supposed to do that ?" and "Oh no you didn't !" etc, etc, ..... There are several different voices you can load (one is Yoda from Star Wars) and you can make that radio just jabber away at you if you want to ... lol ... I've put settings on one of the three-way switches for "strictly business" (minimal speaking), "tell me about it" (more talkative), and "jabberbox" (almost constantly yacking about something or other).

I've also assigned one of the rotary knobs as a volume control too. My next project was to drop a bluetooth transmitter into it so I can hear it through an earpiece, but I haven't gotten around to that yet.

That's just some of the fun stuff as far as it's talking, but it also is extremely useful too, for instance at different levels of RSSI you can trigger audible warnings (tones, beeps, sirens, talking, whatever) to let you know when you're approaching the limits of your range BEFORE you fly too far away (oh yeah, you can also make it vibrate in your hands too just in case it's really noisy around you and there's something serious your attention needs to be called to).

I'm glad to see you're over with wrestling to get your quads airborne and finally enjoying some flying time ! :)

LOL! Yeah, that drone is gonna be pretty nasty. The funny part is, you and my friend who is building it used the exact ferrari reference and the price was so right!! I actually picked out the parts for the build all by myself!! The only thing that he changed was I wanted 2206 - 2750 white edition red bottoms but he didn't go for it.. lol (wonder why). Would you believe that the entire build only cost me $255 + shipping?!?!

As for practicing, I have been rained out for the past 2 days and waiting for a new VTX and an antenna for my Dom 3s. I did however get a training connector cord and have been practicing on the DRL Simulator. As soon as I started flying on it, FPV and acro all came together for me. I felt so silly for trying to fly LoS!! I am super excited to try out my Doms on Saturday when everything is here. I always fly outdoors and usually I'm the only one, so I ordered a 600mw VTX, which plugs right in. I'll probably order a 200mw later on for more fpv activity areas.

I got a Foxeer Arrow 2 CCTV fpv cam but have yet to figure out how to hook it up. Pretty sure that it will have to be soldered. From what I have read, it's waaaay better than CMOS.

Oh yeah! I also have one of those Eachine racer 250s almost up and going! Still have to play around with the FC connection to the RX for PPM but am pretty sure that I will have it airborne soon. Plus I ordered a Bnf frsky 220 by accident. Okay, so it wasn't an accident. I'm addicted! :p:p:p I also ordered a cheapo MJX X400W for my 16yo stepdaughter and a ZMR 250 for when she is ready to let loose. I'm giving her my old goggles. Her boyfriend flys cheapo drones and she is super excited to learn and take the ZMR 250 over to his house and destroy him! lol

I watched a youtube video yesterday that this guy had his X9D+ progged to say in sexy voice "mmm..you turned me on" when it's powered on and I cracked up!

So, brainchild here installed Taranis firmware to her Taranis Plus..... I have that fixed (I think) and then went to bind it and it says "Throttle warning" "Failsafe Warning" and Low Battery warning". I guess the battery has to charge a bit, even when plugged in to the charger? I guess time will tell. lol Now, on to trying to get my Doms to work right with my stupid cameras. 3 drones, Doms still haven't found anything beyond but a super static screen with a slight outline of what the cam is seeing.

 ... That thing is going to be a beast !!
