Hi all, I'm considering getting a drone fit a very specific purpose, and I'm curious if it's even legal.
I live in Alaska. Chickens in Alaska are required to be kept in a predator proof enclosure as not to attract Bears, Wolves, Wolverines, Coyotes, Foxes, Mink, Owls, Eagles, Hawks, Falcons or any other of a laundry list of predators to residential neighborhoods. I have a neighbor who free-ranges her chickens regularly and has attracted bears to my neighborhood, as well as causing me an even more abhorrent problem.
My dog has occasionally gotten loose and taken her chickens. I go to exhaustive efforts to keep my dog contained, but he's strong and motivated to escape, knowing this lady has chickens for him in her yard. He won't even come back for bacon because she has him trained to know she's got chickens for him.
I offered to fix up her coup so the chickens won't get out and she refused. She's reported my dog for taking her illegally free-ranged chickens multiple times now, and he's facing classification as a dangerous animal.
I want to get a drone to fly adjacent her property and take photos of her illegally kept chickens and report her for violating the livestock laws. I understand I bear some responsibility for my dog getting out, but her gross negligence should also be addressed if we're to not have this happen again, also she's talking about suing me, and I need a record showing that she doesn't due lawful diligence to protect her livestock.
Essentially, would it be legal to take photos of her property with a drone to use in reporting and in court?
