I found this rubber tubular item at Ace hardware locally. I don't know what it is for but it was in the section they have for varied bolts, nuts, washers, plugs etc. It just slides onto the metal peg that came on the quad extending it by more than double the distance from the ground and allowing infinite flexing while absorbing impact.
