Just bought first RC/Quad. Sky Viper V950str. ?Throttle?

I've had my V950str for 3 days now. I have a problem with the throttle. I get it hovering at about 3' and I'm really proud of myself and when I try to move it it takes off toward the ceiling. I've tried changing my hovering height to about 4', but, it just keeps going. Question......Do I have to learn to constantly adjust throttle, can't the stick be moved to a certain location to maintain height? I hope I'm asking the question correctly. I want to start yawing left and right, but, when I do....straight to the ceiling.

Very rarely.

You just need to keep practicing, go outside and try.

Exactly, you need to be able to hover by making many tiny adjustments. It comes natural after some practice.

Also, consider some models have throttles like light switches and arent very progressive...Some are too little throttle to all of a sudden too much throttle with slight increase in the stick.
