Just a little video experiment

Well I got my $47 Syma X8C on special from BG and decided to check it out. Everything seems fine, FWIW all the props were heavy on the A/B raised letter side. I just ran it inside (not flying) for a while to run in the motors. Decided to check the 2mp camera.

It was overcast and the sun was going down and was about 7 degrees with 17 mph winds, way too cold for me. But I stepped outside for a quick test. Here it is.

Just for grins I ran it through Virtualdub (a rather old open source app) using the Deshaker filter with 2 passes. This is the result. You can see how it's constantly try to adjust.

Then once again using the 'border' option, which zooms the image. Obviously the original vid was beyond hope, but this is a good example on these filters work.

Is there a way to balance the props on it?
I did. :) They were way off, guess I should have been more precise. The way the props are mounted they are a real pain to pull/change.

VirtualDub the app I used was last updated in 2013 and was basically for AVIs in it's stock install which is what the Syma writes.

The way the stabilizer (free BTW) works is pretty interesting, I just fooling around and didn't tweak it. Here's some info.
