Instability at height

I am new to both quads and rc in general and have had a steep learning curve. My craft was bought second hand and is based on a naza lite controller. Flights so far have been good with one exception, less said. I am becoming very nervous about high flying which I want to do for arial photography. When I get to a reasonable height the craft tips forward and backwards quite alarmingly and is difficult to control. As soon as I drop the height it settles. Am I getting out of range of my tx (spectrum dx6i) or am Ijust hitting what I would call dirty air i.e. turbulent. Otherwise it will hover in front of me while i take its pictures beautifully

How high would you say you are when it becomes unstable? When this happens, does the tx have line of sight with the copter, or are there obstructions? If you say it's tipping a lot, it's probably not that normal, unless you have extremely high winds. If it is a tx/rx problem, you could have some interference depending on how you have everything wired. Do you have a picture of the wiring?

sorry about the thread title, I assume you would want he wiring laid out, in which case at the moment no. Height maybe the 3 times higher than a telegraph pole. Tipping maybe 45degrees forward and back but not all the time, but rock steady when it is around head height. Direct line of view although the rx is on top of the craft, see picture at start of thread. Can weak tx batteries affect range?

Yes - weak batteries could definitely affect range because your tx wouldn't be putting as strong of a signal. Have you charged or replaced them and tested again?

Hi mm, thanks for your time. tx batteries charged and stability much better although when tried the wind was a lot calmer. So two factors changed, bad problem solving approach lol

Had a weird occurrence yesterday. Flying the quad at low levels between 10 and 20 feet. The craft started to gain height and I found it difficult to bring down. It also drifted luckily into a field. Finally managed to get it to come down but in a very uncontrolled fashion. Thought that I may have accidentally engaged fail safe but all normal in GPS mode. Bit panicy now as if this happens again I may not be as lucky on where the craft finally comes to rest
