Something I drew up in my head and and built in my basement has made a bit of history. I filed for my registration number from the FAA and was informed that I had registered the first privately owned and hand made drone in the USA. Here is a picture of it.

In order for me to use one for police purposes it has to be registered by the FAA so I registered the JasGad M6 for my department. In order to use one for commercial use you have to have it registered so that is why I registered my H6 Hornet because I want to eventually do aerial photography and videos.

I see, I did not know you had to for commercial photography. Hard to keep up on all of the different laws that may affect mutirotors. The general public are so busy focusing on the possible bad things that can involve mutirotors.

Would it be ok for me to use yours as an example for a presentation that I will be doing soon?

By law you need to register an aircraft, have a license and have operational approval to fly a drone for commercial profit in furtherance of your business...

Now I'm not sure what they would do if you flew without one and got caught as they're still sorting out the legislation... But they've taken no legal action and have said that they only would if it caused a medium to high threat to aircraft or people and property..

Well I have since found out that the FAA has shaky jurisdiction at the very best on this, but before anything has changed the 333 is mostly useful if you are working with customers that are skittish, or if you are to get insurance. Check Peter Sach's website, or facebook page for a little info on that. Also the UAV Legal News and Discussion group on facebook are full of attorneys, lawyers and other people who have been to law school. Most people have been getting them just so they can have some insurance or get hired instead of our of real legal obligation. This is to change soon though.
