Hubsan X4 liftoff issues

Alright, So I am brand spanking new to the quadcopter world, so I apologize if I miss any obviously known issues here.

Here's the break down of the issue:
Just got my Hubsan X4 in the mail yesterday, depleted both the batteries then charged them to full. Put on the propeller guards so I wouldn't chunk the out on every obstacle I hit. Plugged in the battery, calibrated it on a level surface, then off it flew! It was flying great all day, even if I'm a terrible pilot so far! It took a few tumbles and spills here and there but nothing so dramatic the crash guard couldn't handle. Called it a day, plugged in the batteries to charge and took them off when they were done.
Now come to today. I plug in the fresh battery, turn on the controller and calibrate it on a level surface. Turn up the elevator and nothing but a whole lot of prop spinning! It'll kind of wiggle like it wants to lift, but won't go anywhere. Okay that's odd, maybe its just a bad battery. So I take out the battery and pop in the extra one I ordered with it and plug that one in. Same issue! Okay well maybe I ruined the propellers or something, I think. SO I take out some fresh props I ordered with the spare part kit, take off the old ones with the prop guard, pop on the fresh ones and hey presto it rockets up like no ones business. So I set it down and put the prop guard back on because I don't wanna ruin these fresh props, right? Well the same issue resurfaces. A whole lot of full elevator and prop spinning but going nowhere. Okay so its the prop guard then, I'll just learn to fly without it. Take it off and still the same issue.
I understand it could be a motor issue, but here's my reservation on that. When I was checking all the functions of the sticks with my controller while the elevator was pinned I noticed something odd. The strafe was being controlled by the forward and back sticks and the forward backwards was being controlled by the strafe which means the controller switched these functions. So Im wondering if the controller isn't malfunctioning and not sending a full elevator signal to my receiver save for that one time it rocketed up. Either way this is a nightmare of a start to my quad copter career haha!

If anyone has any tips that can potentially avoid me having to re-solder new motors into this already brand new quad, it'd be greatly appreciated!!! Cheers!

Did the motors become dislodged in a "rough landing"? I had one such landing from about 10' and had to press the motors (2 if them) back down about 2-3 mm to seat properly.

Yes. it sounds to me like there may be a rub somewhere if it worked one time and then did not have enough power to lift off a second time. Are to props press fitted? They may be loose.

I pressed them down with considerable force but they didn't go any farther in and it looks like they're all the way down in their housing.

The props do press down to fit and I tried multiple pairs. None were loose when I checked each fit. It almost sounds like the motors aren't putting out full thrust.

Hello all,

I'm bumping this thread because I'm having the same issue with my X4 (107L) that I received as a gift this morning. I have yet to be able to get it off the ground and have done the following:

Installed prop guard
Ensured props were on correctly
Removed prop guard in case that was the issue
Again ensured I have the props on correctly and seated well

All I've been able to do is get the props to spin loud and fast. There is a slight turning movement of the whole drone when they're running but no lift. One curious thing is that after killing the throttle and the props come to a stop, one of the LEDs by one of the front props will take a long blink and come back on again. I haven't found any information anywhere that indicates this is at all related.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Folow up: I just solved this problem by putting the A props on the B arms and vice versa. I'm assuming it arrived with the motors reversed.
