Hubsan H501ss

Hi all.
I have a Hubsan H501ss and the advanced controller.
The transmitter is version H906A version V1.1.6
The Quad is version 501SS. V2.1.16
I am very happy with the drone but I would love to be able to use the (Circle/Orbit Mode)
On the official Hubsan videos it states that with the firmware I have for the transmitter and quad
this mode should be available.
I have seen online that all you have to do is start the quad in GPS mode and press the down button
and it will enter circle mode and I have seen a video online that uses this to enter circle mode and it changes
into that mode.
When I press the down button nothing happens?
I am very wary of updating any of the firmware for the quad or the controller as I have seen online that this can result in
all sorts of problems and if your quad works don't update the firmware!
Has anyone got any advice on what I am doing wrong and how I can get circle/orbit mode to work?
Any advice would be great and here is the link to the official Hubsan video at around 2.30mins she says that with the controller firmware
and quad firmware I have above that this should work.
Thank you all and Stay Safe. Victor

Hi Victor how new is the quad can it be exchanged as it may have a fault ,have you spoke to the vendor about the problem your having
Victor it's also worth contacting Hubsan about the problem they say in the video to contact them if your having a problem

Hi holtneil, the quad is about 3 years old and I have done all the checks in the (video I posted) so I am confident that the drone is the newer model and all the firmware on the quad and the controller are correct.
In the video (at the start) she shows how to make sure you have the newer model and that the firmware on both the quad and the controller are exactly as she says.
I know there is newer firmware available for this quad but I have seen a lot online about people breaking their quad by updating and she warns about this in the video as well.
Hopefully I will get a reply here or on the Hubsan forum as to how I can solve the problem.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers Victor

Hi Victor it sounds like a firmware problem , the button you have to press does it have another function of it does try and see if that works it may be the button at fault so when pressed it doing nothing

Hi Holtneil, it may in the end be a firmware problem and I will start to look online and see about updating the firmware if I dare or just carry on without the circle mode.
Its not the button because the same button is used as a 1 click to take video and that works fine. for the circle mode you are supposed to hold it for longer and then it is supposed to enter circle mode and I have seen a video of someone long pressing the button and on the transmitter it then goes into circle mode.
Maybe someone at some stage will answer on the Hubsan forum with a fix.
If they do I will let you know how I get on.
Again thank you for all your help and advice.
Cheers Victor

If the hardware checks out, then your next step should likely be the firmware. Do you know if there were earlier firmware versions that didn't have these features? You should be able to check your firmware version and then look in the changelogs to see if this feature was added after your current firmware. I couldn't find a changelog on their site, but you may be able to.

I wouldn't be too worried about bricking the board if you take the proper precautions, and if you do you may be able to fix it if you're willing to do a little soldering. Make sure the connections are good, and that you won't lose power, and triple-check that the firmware you need is what you installed before you plug a battery in.

Edit:
I was able to find a changelog referenced on a German site, looks like the orbit point was added after your current version, here's the PDF I pulled, you might need to translate it.
