How do I bind my drones

I’m having difficulties binding my drones. I tried binding right out of the box but I feel like I’m not doing it right. Do I have to hook it up to beta flight first? I also don’t understand how to find the settings for my transmitter. For example how do I know if I need to be in SBUS D16 or what channel to be in.

some guidance would be greatly appreciated
All my drone are BNF’s and I have a taranis X9D plus SE
And all my drones are compatible with frsky

If only there was a free website out there with millions of instructional videos. Oh, wait, there is this new site called youtube!!!

To be fair finding the correct protocol to choose for a receiver when doing binding isn't totally clear, but should be specified in the receiver manual/documentation if you can find that usually I use the good ol guess and check method and just use betaflight for diagnostic along the way (see if I'm eventually getting data in the receiver tab). BNF usually means no need for betaflight config but doesn't hurt to get familiar with it.

To bind the flysky it's so easy, you just hold the bind button on reciever, power up reciever, then hold bind button on transmitter and power it up. Is the procedure different for frsky?

Yah with open tx on a qx7 at least there's a lot of picking through menus and long pressing things lots of voodoo, the T16 same open tx but with color lcd seems a little easier to navigate. My spektrum dx6i was like you say hold some button or toggle switch while turning on and it binds and the auto binding spektrum receiver goes into binding mode automatically if no bound transmitter is found in like 10 seconds, but yah it varies a lot.

Receivers always seem to be the same procedure, at least roughly. Hold the bind button or plug in bind plug that shorts signal to GND or with autobinding ones just wait.

Oh OK good to know, I'm getting the T16 for Christmas and it'll be a learning curve lol but at least it's compatible with my flysky recievers. Gonna try a tbs crossfire with it too, try the one kilometer challenge. Time to step up the game!
