I am in no way a fan of these type motors and want to replace them with the brushless type.

Ain't happening. For one you have no ESCs to power brushless motors, nor will your PCB handle them.

As far as motors there seems to be some confusion, this may help.

Fix it and fly it, the motors are inexpensive. You can move on later once you got your muscle memory established and most of your crashing over with. Maybe something like this.
