Hey guys and gals! Been reading into building a decent 250 class quad to get into racing/goofing off. Heres the thing, I have never flown a quad period. I build planes for a living but that's as much as I can tell you (I know I'm cool). Thought about building a frame using material from work which got me into the idea of getting into the hobby. So should I start small with a nano or micro? I went to a local hobby store that has the dramida vista I was interested in learning on as I build. So what say you?

Hey Cali, welcome to the forum. You're right on track starting with something smaller to learn with. And not necessarily smaller, just easier. There's been many a person who went out and bought a 250 racer, smashed and crashed it until a pile of junk and gave up. And usually before they do, they come here and complain that it wasn't their fault, the quad was defective. They're incredibly powerful, fast and very touchy. Kinda like buying your 16 year old a top fuel dragster to learn how to drive.I started with a couple micros and found they were also hard to fly and didn't have much range. Have a look at the U580, it's what I learned to fly with. Fairly cheap and sturdy. It's a blast to fly, quite maneuverable and with 3 flight modes from slow to fast.

I'm really eyeing a hubsan h107L with a weatherproof case for 60$ from Walmart. While we're at it, is bang good a good site to order from? Fast on shipping and all?

All yhe Chinese companies, Gearbest, Banggood, HobbyKing take a while to deliver, but if you pay the extra 6 or 7 bucks, it comes pretty quick. I'm in Canada and usually 5 or 6 days. But their prices are really good.

Good to know! I think I'm going to order the 107L, vids seem to show it being a good starter and then some. Need to decide on a frame to make in the mean time. Thanks for your help ren!
