Got m LHI 920KV motors and SIMONK 30A ESC Wiring ?

I got everything today, the ESC's have 3 small wires brown red orange, I am assuming brown is ground, red it power and orange is to the FC. Am i correct in this assumption. Also does anyone know with Betaflight and these ESC what mode to use DSHOT150 or something else. Thanks !

Correct w/ wiring so far. Those 920kv will work much better than those 2300kv motors from your previous post on a 500 build. The protocol (Dshot 150, 600, 1200, etc..) should be noted in the item description. If not, just try out different ones. Usually they can handle more than one protocol.

Also something else to keep in mind... with respect to the three wires that will connect to the motors.. you can change the motor direction dependent on how you wire them. The trend usually is if you cross a middle wire over to the outside, and the outside wire to the middle, then it will spin the opposite direction.

Check out Painless360 on YouTube if you have time. He has a lot of good build videos. He doesn't waste your time and has many different build tutorials for you to choose from by now.

When you say cross the wires to make it run opposite, you mean the A B C ESC output not the three control wires correct?

Yes. So some motors already spin a certain direction, but usually you will need to cross the wires to switch from CW to CCW (vice versa).

Example: A to A -- B to C -- C to B will change the motor direction.

I usually buy cheap Racerstar motors.. they run fine but the quality assurance isn't the best. They advertise the motor spins CCW, but I usually need to cross the wires to get the desired outcome. Sometimes I wire them straight up and they spin the correct direction.

Just make sure you confirm the motor spin direction before your maiden flight or it will just flip over.

yeah i have one motor hooked up on the bench to the ESC, when powering on i get the low med high tone, when i go into beta flight and arm the motors it does not spin. Very strange

Maybe check this guy out. He has a whole playlist full of useful info for you.

That video is just the introduction to the playlist. I'm trying to add just the link, but the forum keeps changing the YouTube link to a media haha sorry for the confusion

Do you know for certain that it is arming?

Did you calibrate the escs na calibrate the radio? The signal have to meet certain values before the arming function will work.

I will check it out. I am done tinkering for tonight. From what i can tell from the power on code i get the 3 power on beeps then the longer beep indicating connection to the FC. I have 11 volts on the positive to the ESC. I get no output. I am thinking its a setting for the ESC in betaflight somewhere. I tried all the modes DHOT MULTISHOT and nothing, Almost like the FC is not sending the signal to the ESC. I will play around again tomorrow to see if i can get the motor spinning.

How can i make it arm, in beta flight i switched the warning switch and ran the master up and got no response. I am not using the X7 controller just the on screen software.

Its time to watch the Stanley Cup. Put the soldering iron down and grab a beer!

yeah I think i might do that but vodka is the drink of choice. It is not arming, on boot up i can feel the motor twitching with the beep tones. I will figure out how to arm this thing tomorrow. Thanks

No pass through for those simonk esc's.
I had to use a servo tester to get mine going. Then you can calibrate in motors tab. When the build is finished.

When you're in the motor tab, have you clicked on the little check box to verify that you have removed the props and will take full responsibility for any chaos that may ensue?

Yes I have checked that box, I think what I need to do is go through the calibration process, full throttle battery unhooked, hook up battery, motor screen master slider to full, wait for beep, master slider to idle, wait for beep.

When I hook up the battery now i get the self test tones and the long tone indicating that the ESC has detected the FC. Thanks !

You need one of these for them esc.

Simonk are not blheli compatible.
And a mega pain in the a$$ to update firmware. IMO don't buy anymore.
This does the basic throttle calibration.
You can also check an esc is working if you are not using it for a while.
I got about 4 sets in a draw for a few months but I know they work.
I think there was a work around doing the throttle calibration on the Tx but I just got one of these for £2 $3.

Apply 5v & esc to other side. Then turn the knob to the max. If you have a spare motor on bullets you can put that on to get the beeps. So you know for sure.

I am going to try the work around calibration, but if it continues to give me trouble i can always order different ESC's. I would like to get these ones working since they came the motors.
