Getting better by not recording.

Im working on a theory that seems to work. I stopped recording almost all my flights. Breaking my gopro session and then today breaking my hero4 case I think im going to give the old bill and ted method a try. Seemed like I wouldnt give the basics enough time because I was worried about the video being boring. What do you guys think? Does recording all your flight inhibit progression?

Yes. When you start recording flights too soon, you are focused on the wrong things. If you focus on flying the quad now, you can fly the camera later.

I would imagine that it would as your focus, as you said, is not on the actual flight.

This is why I am not that concerned about recording my flights (wifi camera sucks for it anyway) as I am doing this for my own enjoyment.

You didn't mention if you are watching video from the aircraft via a monitor or googles - if that's the case, you need to be aware of significant latency introduced by the GoPro cameras which can get you into a bind. If I'm shooting video while flying the aircraft manually, I do not bother watching video from the camera - my focus is on flying the aircraft. Otherwise, I create and fly a waypoint mission and let the autopilot fly the aircraft while I concentrate on the video

Im full Acro FPV on a 5" frame running 4s. I only fly with googles. For me LOS is for checking that the aircraft's components are working. Ive never done a flip, roll, or dive LOS. I used most of my video like watching practice video to see what I needed to work on. That turned quickly into caring about the content of the video as a whole and I stopped working on the basics as much. I stopped for a few weeks once while gopro was down and noticed I flew different and got better at some things quicker because of it. Now im back in that same situation but now I think it may be for the best. Do a little bill and ted turnaround. Come back and change the world!!! LOFL.
