FPV Racing Mini Quadcopters Win/Fail

Hi All,
Here are some Win and Fail shots from our day racing mini Quadcopters.

West Devon saw a group of FPV pilots meet for some excellent FPV Racing of mini Quadcopters, the weather was ideal and the garden a perfect place to setup a track to try and avoid hitting obstacles.

We all had so much fun and it was good to put faces to usernames on the day. We all had our own take on how a mini racer should be setup for racing with a variety of components showing their strengths on the day, the Mobius sports camera seemed to be a common item on the quads and had quite a beating all day on every quad but survived very well.

To keep things fair we all used 5"x3" props (2 blade or 3 blade) and a 3s setup, the quads were very evenly matched with the advantage going to the pilot that manages not to hit anything.

Thank you to the pilots and spotters on the day for a great time.

Damn - this is so cool. It got picked up by a blog and posted to the news section of the forum a few days back. I watched the whole thing and showed some people at work. Great editing on the video. Super exciting to watch. It makes me want to build a mini race quad!

I didn't know about the Mobius Sports Camera, but that looks like an excellent deal, and super light weight. Are all the FPV action shots using that camera?

Thank MM, sorry for the late reply.

The Mobius is amazing bang for the buck and the small low profile form factor make it a winning combo, 1080p@30fps is done very well with the camera at about 15MBit/s, of course it does not compare to the GoPro for quality but I have less worries about whacking a £50 camera into a tree rather than a £250+ one. Most shots were done using my Mobius but some of the ground shots and timelapse were done via the GoPro Hero 3 Black. All the quads bar one were fitted with Mobius

That sounds nice. GoPro's are pretty sturdy, but it's still the one thing I worry most about in a bad crash. The mobius seems like a great camera for so many situations - small size copters (racing, especially), new, untested builds, inexpensive builds for newbs, etc. etc. I think I might ask for one for Christmas this year!

My friend who cuts my H4 Hornets out just created his own 3D printed mini racer frame. He flew it for me it it was extremely fast. Pretty cool for being 3D printed. I like the posted video and showed friends at work. Very cool guys. I would so destroy a little bug like these. I don't think my talent is there yet to play with you guys.
