Fpv camera angle

For high altitude fpv flight.. Would it be better to have your fpv camera facing forward or facing straight down?
I presume you don't get to see how much you're drifting away if you're high up and your cam is facing straight ahead.. Could be deadly for losing signal.. Thanks in advance

I would imagine it would be very hard to control a fpv quad with a camera looking straight down. Mine is actually up a few degrees from level so when I travel, it noses down to where I can see. The only problem I have is when I reduce altitude in a linear fashion(straight down) I can't see what's directly below me. One answer would be to mount another camera and get a switch so I can (switch) between the two cameras; one looking forward and one straight down.
