FPV 2.4GHz vs 5.8GHz ???

I was wondering if it is possible to fly true fpv with 2.4GHz?
Is the lag and response the same between 5.8ghz and 2.4ghz? Why are professional system all 5.8GHz? is it because of less lag? or more real time? more range? higher resolution transmission? or just a gimmick so we pay more for higher frequency?

Maybe it is ALL of the above... ??

Well to start with 2.4 would have slightly better penetration, but less bandwidth, so lower potential resolution.

Lower signals penetrate better, higher signals have more bandwidth as if you can send information faster with 5 cycles (or bits) per second than with 1 cycle, or bit per second. Now you also have bands to consider as you usually don't need the full bandwidth of a signal so the signal gets divided into bands. This is a VERY simplistic view, but here is an image of WiFI's AFH.

I'll make a bit more in depth post when I get time, I just saw that I could reply quick with a bit of info.

So 2.4GHz has the same potential of real time and responce time as 5.8GHz?
Any delay becomes cheap circuitry engineering and not frequency based?

Any noticeable delay, yes that would mean you have something wrong with the hardware/software or just cheap hardware.
