FPV 1.2 Ghz or 5.8 GHz?

My natural inclination is toward 1.2 GHz based on low frequency getting better signal with ground objects in the way, but apparently the 5.8 GHz has benefits too. Can I get by with the 5.8 kicking out behind trees etc? Or am I way better off with 1.2?

I buy most of my FPV stuff from ReadyMadeRC and they give some quick, concise advice on frequencies to use:

That's pretty much the same advice you'll get anywhere. You just have to weigh the trade-offs - although, a lot of people say that the video quality is better with 5.8 only in theory and in practice, it's not that easy to notice any quality difference.

Personally, I like 1.2/1.3.

Also, I'm not sure what country you're in, but research the laws first as well since frequencies that are okay to use differ by country.

Ok, so I was told 1.2 GHz at higher powers interferes with GPS satellite reception, and that isn't AS much a problem on a fixed wing because you can stick the FPV antenna over out on the wing and the GPS receiver on the other side, but on a tight quad configuration, you don't have this option, so I went with the 5.8GHz. If I get a fixed wing I will probably use 1.2 GHz.
