FLY AWAY

Ok, another newbie here and need some help/advice. I boight a Walkera QR X350 RTF and during the second flight it took off on its own. Luckily it went down about 150 yards away and I was able to retrieve it. Has anyone else had this happen to them.
This resulted in damaging the gimbal and the fear that I may not be so lucky the next time of getting it back.
Walkera has been no help and insists that I did something wrong. I told them ok, what did I do wrong then. No help, just a lot of if this or if that.

Hi mate a lot to do with fly aways is the gps and set up ,if your not getting a gps lock it will return to its last gps lock point which can be at the last place you had it in the air , check that the fail safe is set up right rebind with zero throttle and cyclic in the centre ,then reset up return home mode if it has it , Walkera are not the best sad to say , but every time you go to fly recalibrate the gps and make sure signal is good

One thing that I would pass on to anyone considering purchasing the Walkera quadcopter is don't expect much in the way of written instructions. The Chinese interpretation leaves a lot of important information about the quad and radio to the imagination.

Looks as though I have developed more problems. I can't get my radio to recognize the quad anymore. I know that I have changed some settings but don't remember what I changed and I can't find anyone that knows how to get the radio back to the factory settings. You wwould think that as big as Houston is there would be a RC center that would know how to do it.

Thanks so much for your fast reply. I have been on several forums trying to get some help and your the first to offer any. I have the Devo F7. I know that I have probably messed up the settings myself because my gimbal stopped functioning using the tilt knob and will/was only operating through the throttle control! I was trying to get that straightened out guess I really messed up huh! Now I cant get anything except a fast flashing left light on the QR X350 Pro.

Holtneil,
wanted to thank you for the link. I wasn't able to try this fix as my radio battery went bad and didn't get the replacement until today. I have been working on the reset but not quite there yet. I will let you know how it turns out.

Just an update, got the new radio battery, new gimbal and everything is working--------except the Quad!!! I am pulling my hair out over this. The videos helped me get the gimbal working correctly but now I can't get the motors to unlock?? My wife is giving me fits over this mess after spending so much money and can't even get it to fly now. Any suggestions?

This is going to be a stupid post for ya but you might find it helpful. I had a fly off and my friend had a fly off days later last month. Last month we were having bad solar storms. We were having class M solar storms for 30 to 48 hours at a time for over a few weeks. The worst solar storm we can have is a class N. Those storms provide nothing but havoc on RC controllers and are major issue causers to our very sensitive GPS units. If you had a fly off plus me plus my friend in the same time span I think we might have a common denominator here. My hexacopter has over 150 flights with no issues and on that day it was only 45 feet from me when it went on its' own. I flipped my switch to atti as soon as I saw the glitch but no luck then I switch to manual with will work in most cases but no luck. I had a complete transmitter black out plus a GPS unit in control. Just letting you know. Hope this helps ease your mind a bit.

Thanks longRange, that does make me feel a little better. I was much luckier than my freind, he was out taking pics of our job site and it was near the ship channel. He had taken several nice videos before and no issue. A couple of weekends ago he was back out there doing it again and all of a sudden his took a mind of its own. He did the same as you but to no aveil. Now we call it the "Drowned Drone"! It is funny in a way but to loose such an expensive drone plus a GoPro, that really sucks.
It sounds like you are a really expierenced flyer so hope you had a better end result than he did.

To follow up with my previous posts, I have everything working again except now I have no video feed back to my Devo F7 screen. This is just so crazy, not mention nerve racking! I am sure that it is in the radio settings but so far have not figured it out. Hope someone out there can chime in with a solution for me. Thanks
