First time build! Help!

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum! Basically me and my partner needed something to do as a hobby and after looking at a few videos of racing fpv drones we thought it would be good idea to take it up! Instead of forking out a lot of money in a pre built DRone I want to build us a DRone that is based of our ideas!

All I want to know if what are the best parts I can buy and what websites to get them from and a basic understanding of how to put together the DRone!

Any type of help will be useful!

Thank you!!

Hi mate welcome to the forum I hope you have deep pockets as its going to cost a lot for the best parts , may be give the guys an idea of how much you want to spend , because there is so much stuff out there like the Naza m with GPS cost of $500, fat shark will cost you about £400 , transmitters go from about £80 to £1000, do you want long range FPV or just a really fast racer to race close by
Also where in the world are you this will help us pin point part dealers

Hiya mate! I'm from the uk! As you said about money I understand it's going to cast a lot but I don't want to buy all the parts straight up! They don't have to be the best past as I said in the other post just reliable I'm looking to build one that can go mid range away from me but is also quick and and agile in the corners able to do acrobatics aswell!

What Jackson linked to is a great cheap racer also rcmodelreviews has done a few 250 racer builds and painless360 is other guy to watch
Any way being in the UK you can only do line of sight 400 feet out 400 feet up and your need a spotter unless your at a race meet and if I remember right you can't go over 200 milliwatts on the FPV transmitter but you be fine with that
Get a good transmitter your flying will be better as the top end transmitter has better gimbals

The best parts is a pretty hard question, because you can get really crazy and really expensive fast. But if you are just looking for a build that will have all of the range you should need for acro and racing then the normal 2.4GHz/5.8GHz setup should be just fine for you. What type of action camera are you going to use? I've had a Runcam HD and currently have a Gopro Session.

Depending on your preferences I'd suggest something like a 180mm - 270mm size, with a 32bit flight controller that runs Cleanflight or maybe Betaflight. Then probably Tattu batteries, probably 4S 1300mAh - 1500mAh ~70C, then a 32ch 5.8GHz FPV VTx, some circular polarized antennas, if you get goggles with a diversity receiver I'd suggest getting a circular polarized patch antenna as well. 2300kv - 2600kv motors make sure to get nicer ones, some 12amp to 25amp ESCs this depends entirely on your motor. Also you want to pay attention to the firmware, KISS or Blheli are nice. KISS if you want ESC's to contribute telementry data A good motor like the EMax red bottoms should be able to use 23 amps if you push them. Props probably should be somewhere between 3 blade 4'' props to 2 blade 6'' props (depends entirely on the motors and what you want to do).

Your transmitter should be something nice to last you a while, I use the Taranis and really like it. There are plenty of upgrades and features. If you want something a little cheaper and to have a little cheaper recievers the Turnigy 9XR pro is good too. There are many good quality cheaper radios if you don't want to make much of and investment now.

As far as the frame goes you really want something that will hold up to some crashing, but also you want it to have enough room for mounting. A really big consideration is to make sure you can get replacement parts.

If you decide to do RTF I've tried a couple Eachine and the HolyBro Shuriken. Here is my review of the Shuriken and I've yet to write anything on my thoughts about the Eachine RTF but I can say that the quality was not as good as I'd have liked.

This info is provided as is and may be a bit out of date or have some info accidentally omitted. With that said I hope this helps.

EDIT:

What Jackson should really help you, especially if you decide to go the build route.

Hi guys like seriously thank you so much for all your comments really helping me understand everything about quadcopter building! If it is possible can some one just make a a list of all the basic parts you need for a fpv racing DRone and il come back to you all with I find and see what you all think!

I'm back again after doing a bit of shopping around iv managed to find:-

Frame
Motors
Esc
Voltage regulator
Fpv transmitter
Fpv receiver
Controller
Props
Flight controller
Fpv Camara

Anything els anyone would recommend ?

Your need a monitor or goggles if you go for the monitor make sure its not a blue screen ( this is a monitor that will go to a blue screen if the signal gets bad Do not get one that does this )
batteries and lipo charger get a 80 watt 4 button one ,this will then do a balance charge and a store charge this is important . so your need flight batteries for the quad also battery for FPV receiver and monitor or goggles
heat shrink , soldering iron , unless you get just plug and play items but this will limit what you can get for parts

I wish I knew FlySky was to be avoided as entry level when I got started ( has yet to even fly same).
but research has shown me that FRSky or spectrum might have been a better starting point but I'm a noob I may be incorrect yet.
SBus PPM PWM I'm still soo confizzeled...

lol this dude dippy123 and his "partner" ok I shouldn't go there....
why not start at the OTC [over the counter] Quads and line of sight {LOS] flying and see if its your thing.
Ready to fly out of the box FPV is a cost effective way to at least .....evaluate...... if you want to get in to this hobby! Even Toy Quads with FPV would be worth a peek .

See my earlier post... you may not have the constraints we have in the US about registration but the cost factor is again worthy of inspection!
Try a couple of light RTF quads and actually do some detailed research into building a quad.
Its not like were missing some gigantic river of information on any topic of interest oh perhaps called the internet....
that could give you countless articles and how to videos on learning more about the hobby.

Good luck sorry if I seem a bit Jaded but umm yea to directly address you specific concern BangGood.com getfpv.com FPVModel.com
hey umm perhaps Google that (lol sorry I couldn't resist )

:) Happy Face !

That's not correct. The i6 line is one of the best and most sophisticated budget TXs out there. The i6B (PPM/IBus) RX has been range tested at 2+K by many. The latest FCB's now have FS IBus support. I have a Turnigy rebadge (paid $41 shipped) and am more than pleased with it. There is a rabid fanbase out there and custom FW to convert the older models to 10 channel operation. They have also added many new, smaller, inexpensive RX's.

Their latest entry, with new PCB and FW and 10 channels is a steal.

That's not correct.

I humbly sit corrected and appreciative... LOL

My bang good order includes ( if it ever gets here) the I6 and the 6CH FS-iA6B as I shop around for FC s and parts for my 3" Falcon Multirotors: Räsvelg build I just noticed
more FrSKy and Spectrum compatibility of which I don't have a Transmitter for.. Don't Kill me I'm new too :-) I am aware of modding the FlySky to handle FrSky but the only mod
Ill be doing to a $47 transmitter are :
firmware upgrade ( debatable)
make it take a lipo block ,
and maybe extend its antennae
I have one or two of those small receivers on the way as well worried about compatibility with FC & ESC
