First quad!!!

Yes. Let me know if you see anything I need to do different! It is my first build so I’m sure there will be mistakes. I think I may have gotten overzealous trying to lower the top plate right off the bat. I should just build it box stock for now!

Everything looks good to me in fact much better than I did on my first (and only) build. I don't see any harm in lowering the top plate as long as everything fits lol.

In fact that's the trend these days to get the top as low as possible if you're top mounting your battery to lower the center of gravity.

FC near to the top plate as possible & the top plate as close to the prop line as possible.
That’s what I was trying to do, as I’ve been reading about the trend of lowering CG. FC is still in the mail so I’m just not sure how much room I’ll have. Hopefully it all works out.

Can anyone recommend a better way of posting pictures here? I was trying to get it to show in the thread here without a link, but couldn’t get it. I used the img insert tool and that didn’t work out. Tried uploading the picture right from my phone also but it says the file is too large.

Convert the pic, it saves in a file then when you chose, well its documents on my phone. But just open the file its stored in & select it.

Well, it was going fairly smooth until I plugged the battery in......
I plug the FC in on USB and it works just fine, but off battery power I get nothing. I used a smoke stopper, and there doesn’t seem to be any problem with that. I was able to set everything up between FC and radio as well as the ESC. Kinda bummed out, I was getting really excited!!

What do you mean when you say nothing. Are the LEDs on your flight controller lighting up and are you getting tone from your motors?

I get three beeps off the motors. No lights on FC or receiver.
I just found out that the bolt32 won’t supply 5v to the revolt v3, which I find very strange. V3 uses 5v and the Revolt OSD uses full voltage. I thought I could just plug in the pinned cable and be all set.

Not that strange. The Bolt 32 is designed to be plug & play with the Revolt OSD, not the V3. I'm guessing you zapped it with full vbat and fried it.

I don’t believe it’s damaged. I didn’t see any smoke, and it still powers up through usb. I hope anyway. Some of this stuff is hard to wade through as a noob haha

Here ya go Sean...............

Daddy longlegs:D nice.
my x220 arms bolt on like that but I put them underneath so I could make the standoffs shorter =:) CG. There is about 6mm of of dead space there.
The bolt heads are pretty deep so I filed em down to about 3mm.just enough for a few wires underneath. But this is the shizz compared to that ZMR you had. And that was the shiz aswell. What tx are you using these days ?

No leds normally mean R. I. P.
go over the soldering with a magnifier or continuity tester. If BF ain't opening try a different lead
different com port
different baud rate

But if it ain't opening, it ain't opening.
So suck it up dig deep & be more careful next time. Just buy the cheapest F4 you can. In fact buy two so you ain't got to wait so long the next time you fry one. :(
Have you got any pictures of the crime scene for us to look o_O at as evidence.
Oh just one more thing sir,
Did you mess with the ports as that's a killer. You can't brick it like the old naze, so other than a short or physical damage that's the only way to be locked out.
How are you supplying 5v to the fcb?
Esc or pdb to 5v rail.
