First loss

Hi guys. I lost my first quad today, the very first one I purchased, just an inexpensive RTF , the one that sucked me into the hobby. Feels like a family member died, Ive had that little guy for 4 years.
I dont even remember the model. I flew for the airlines for 26 years, and bought it online right after I retired. I had rc planes, helicopters, cars and trucks...but the quad with the camera and the stability and options really grabbed me.
Not long after, I bought better models, then started building my own, you all know how it goes. But that first one still got flown and had a place of honor in my mancave.
We have a little ranch here in texas, just 67 acres, but we're surrounded by ranch land, it's all woods and pastures. I was flying one of my race quads, and I pulled my first one out for my 12 year old nephew to fly- he's flown alot, not a newb. Anyway, he decided to go high and take an aerial shot of the house. Although it was calm at the surface, above the treeline the winds were apparently really moving. Josh yelled, and I looked over to see the little quad headed for maine. Really hauling ass too. We hopped in the razor and tried to follow it, but we ultimately failed.
a moment of silence, if you dont mind.

be careful out there guys.

:)

Sorry for your loss. The pain will lessen over time. I read all the time of people loosing their pets, only to have them find their way home months or years later, so you never know...............

I just bought my first quad today, things were going great and I crested the top of the trees and the wind current caught it and she set sail and vanished into the wheat field before I could see where it went down

Yep, been there before.

Have lost a few but one of the worst ones for me was a Syma X5c that landed in a tree in my front yard. It was at the end of the winter so the tree was still bare and every day I had to go by and see it sitting there staring at me from the very top! It was like so close but so far away. Had a good ending in that it eventually blew down out of the tree. The battery was shot but the quad was fine.
