First build, Reusing parts...

Hello all, first post and I need a little help. I'm an electrician and run a small 3d printing business. I want to 3d print a frame and buy some 1000 kv motors and ESC's. But for the rest of the electronics and to keep costs low I would like to strip down and use the flight controller, reciever, transmitter, and battery from one of my cheapy drones laying around. I'd be using something along the likes of a UDI 818a. In the future then I can buy better parts and replace them to gain longer range/flight time. Is it possible? Thank you for your help.

A KK2.1.5 is plenty cheap enough as the controller from a mini quad would cost more to make it work with ESCs and it would not be adjustable as the PIDs would need to be adjusted for the very different flight characteristics. There are many cheap transmitters and receivers you could use just to get your feet wet. A really cheap example would be the HKTR6a, or some RadioLink tx.
