I am looking at building myself something since my mate has just got one and it looks awesome.

Im from the uk so not sure on availability over here.

There are a few thing I want it to do

Film from my sj4000 camera
I want to be able to get some goggle that I can see where it is going
I want it to have gps so that it can return to Base etc.

I have never flown anything rc at all except a small toy helicopter. I have had rc cars all my life so understand the basics of rc

Money is the main problem here. I want to be able to buy bits as I go along and build it over a couple of months as I can afford the parts.

Can anyone put a list together of all the seperate components I would need along with anything I would need to know about each part for compatibility etc.

Once ive got an idea I will have a look and put a list together with prices for you guys to ok and say will all work together then I will start purchasing bits and building :)

Many thanks in advance

Hi mate welcome to the forum , most guys use a 250 quad for fpv racing , but a 450 size would give you more room , Hobby king uk ware house would be a good place to buy some parts , frames start at about £9 , motors and props will depend on frame , Hobby king do a FPV in a box all that you need plug and play for £62 , battery needs to be 4000mah min as it need to run quad and fpv , you will also need a min 4 channel transmitter ( mode 2) how about this one as a start, once i know what frame you like we can move on from there

I quite like that last one. So its £57 for the frame. How much you looking at for everything else I need? Id like to mount a gopro on it and have the option of adding fpv at a later date

Hi mate the frame is idea for the camera it will mount off the two front tubes , as for the rest to be honest your best buying a bit at a time and get better parts , will make a nicer quad , as for ESC i would go for 30 amp min and flashed with simonk , Hobby king do them but i got my from proflight and never had a problem watch this video, as for motors we need to look at what the frame will take i will look at this right now

Just found this kit on ebay uk item number 261668299578

Im told the dji are the best to get? Is that a good kit? If its got gps does that mean I can get it to return to me by just pressing a button or is that something else? (or even possible)

Sorry for all the questions just dont want to buy something then realise it doesnt do what I want it too lol

Hi mate good kit it will have return home as it has a gps unit , it will also have course lock too , good if your using a camera what it does is say your following a car you set quad off so its a long side the car then hit course lock ,then power past the car and spin round so the camera is looking at the car course lock will keep quad flying in the right direction

That sounds awesome. Is fpv something I could add on at a later date aswel?

What sort of radio gear would I need? What sort of range do you get? Or does that depend on which radio you buy?

Hi Will it all depends on how much you want to spend , cheap is hobby king plug and play full set up for £62 , fat shark system will be £350+ watch these videos rcmodelreviews on u tube has loads on FPV he tests and tell you if they are any good or not as for range he shows how to build a long range FPV system all you need to know is on his you tube channel
