First build and I'm Stuck!

I've just completed my first build and am using the (Hobby King) HK-T6a RX Transmitter & Receiver with a MultiWii 328p. I'm using female to female servo connectors for power to the receiver and I'm plugging the ESC's directly into the FC(MultiWii) one at a time in attempts to program the ESC's. My ESC's are Simonk 12a and I've tried to program via The HK-T6a RX Transmitter and I'm getting a little jerking movement from the motors and the usual introductory "jingle" as expected when plugging in the DC source but I'm not getting the enter program mode as instructed. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You don't need to "program" your ESCs, you only need to calibrate them to the stick movements of your transmitter. What you do need to program is your FC. Have you done this and if so, what software are you using?

There are certain functions that you can change on the esc depending on what they are flashed with.

I have always used an esc programmer to change the settings on mine so I am not sure if they are supposed to do that when you change settings with the rx.

Not all ESCs can be programmed that way. As RENOV8R noted most ESCs labelled as SimonK (quadcopter ready) should work fine as is. Just worry about about setting the setting the high and low points of each.

Here's a manual method.
