DJI Phantom

Hi all,
I have bought the DJI Phantom on the recommendation of my associates. I have never "flown" any craft but was intrigued at what this quadcopter could do at the price. I am a photojournalist and filmmaker by profession, so this is in line with the sort of work I want to do. What I don't like about the package is the limited range of the unit (300mtrs) and that I can't "see" what the GoPro is seeing. I have had a look at the goggles that are available but don't like that idea either. Would some kind knowledgeable person please advise me; what transmitter I should buy, what I need to do to extend the range of the unit and what setup I would need to "see" what the camera is seeing. The other part of this long winded question is what is the best value for money gimble to suit the DJI. The DJI gimble sells for around $700, which I find a bit pricey. Many thanks in advance.

DJI phantom is not really built for FPV. You will have to add on so many things like extended battery. Once you add the gimbal the weight reduces the flight time by almost half. Then you still have to put the fpv system. If you want a already good setup that has been tested by many people this website has the set up ready to sell. http://www.readymaderc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=781 . I linked you the 5.8ghz system because im assuming you don't have a ham radio license. If you do you can do many more frequency in the US.

My recommendation is to sell the phantom and try to get something more in the FPV field. I would recommend TBS PRO or my AD1. Email or call me if you have any questions. You can check out my quad at www.actiondroneusa.com.
