I've been looking for the toughest and best warranted drone under $500. Lately I've seen both sub $400 so which would you guys recommend? Which is most capable of follow a preset flight path to follow and what not. Also best perforce etc. Please advise as I'm new thanks! I'm interested in autopilot by using maps to set waypoints at various heights and areas to focus on thanks! I know you can buy additional software but do some come with it thanks!

According to a video I watched, the Phantom 3 cannot fly a preset waypoint mission - you have to fly the route manually first and set waypoints as you fly it.

While I don't own a Solo, I have built three copters utilizing the older APM flight controller and you can set waypoints prior to flying the mission - I suspect that the Solo has this same capability.

I don't know what you mean be being "toughest" - I expect both are equally "tough". Also don't know about the respective warranties. I've heard bad things about DJI's customer support though.

The Phantom 3 Advanced & pro will allow you to input up to 4 waypoints (not available on the Standard)to fly to, the P4 allows Tap to fly which will allow you to use the map feature using GPS to scroll the map to where you want to go, tap the spot and it will automatically set that way point, this feature isn't working due to the firmware bug, if you have a hotspot on your phone you can use the wifi to toggle the maps and use the feature until the bug is fixed.

Might want to do some research on 3DR as a company, alot of changes are going on there and customer support is not what it used to be and parts are not as easy to get, they seem to be moving away from hobby to commercial. The products that they have supplied in the past were all top notch and cutting edge.

I was pretty much a 3DR bigot - built three aircraft using their APM flight controller - working on a forth to sell:

This quad will also have an APM flight controller, though it will be a Chinese clone as 3DR doesn't sell them anymore.

Don't get me wrong 3DR is what I am flying, built one of their kits using pixhawk etc., can't get parts anymore company is going in new direction, my avatar is an early pix of my 3DR
