DJI F450

Hi All

iv just bought a DJI F450 and its not working But having said that I bought it not working. But at the price I paid I dont mind as its worth more in bits alone. The funny thing is the setup with the wires. Iv started to strip it downand get it sorted out.Its gat a Naza Lite in the quad. (I dont know if its been upgraded to V2 or not as yet as Iv not got that far into it. But the thing that i found in the wiring that I found funny is the wiring and that the control wire from each ESC has been cut and only one of the 3 wires go to the plugs that go into the Naza M1, M2, M3 and M4. Now I also have a Naza lite that I have upgraded to the V2 software but iv never used it as yet so dont know it the use of a single wire from the ESC is right or not. Hence why asking on here?.
First thing im going to do is make sure the radio is bound to the RX and then go from there. I also need a bottom plate as its not been fitted to the undercarrage properly and its split. So i might as well get a new one and solder all the wires on it better than its been done on the one I have LOL

Mainly its the i wire I need to know about on the ESC and if its right or not?

Is there a manual or at least a wiringdiagram for the F450 fitted with a Naza lite/V2. Thank you

I found funny is the wiring and that the control wire from each ESC has been cut

In some instances folks will remove the power wire from 3 ESCs out of 4.

I will try and get a photo but it looks like 2 out of the 3 wires (the ones you would normally plug into the RX if not using say a Naza like on a normal build) and the 3 pin plugs from each ESC only has one wire going to it and then plugged into the 4 motor ports of the Naza?
But like I said I will try and get a photo

Also can I buy the bottom board of the F450 from anywhere please? as this one has a crack in it..

Hi mate Naza use a power module to power the FC not the ESCs so a lot do cut the wires and just leave the signal wire , check the BEC or power module is working this may be blown so this is why nothing works

Here are the photos

The first as you can see with the connections that go from the RX to the Naza Lite controller.All of which iv traced and all seem to go where they should.

The second is the sticking point and as I told you about where only data wire out of the 3 ESC control lead are connected to the Naza controller The Data wire shown as the one connected.

The third showing the 3 wires and how they cut and just used the Data wire not Positive or Ground

The forth is the make and model of the ESC All other wires are connected as should be those being the 3 motor wires the 2 HD main battery power cables. Which leaves the last cable like is shown in photo 3 above

The next 4 are showing make and model of motor used

Thanks for the reply. I think the best way (seeing as I need a new bottom plate is to strip it down and start from the bottom and rebuild it.. As it is in quite a mess with wires far to long and pushed in here there n everywhere
Plus the reason the bottom board is scrap is who ever built it must have been missing some plates from the undercarriage as they wood-screwed it directly on to the undercarriage in a right and I mean really p**s poor bodge job LOL.
I had also thought about a BEC but as the ESCs are wired into the main battery I was thinking that they had the BECs in each unit. But now I can see what they are I can check?. So that said if the ESCs have inbuilt BECs then the wiring should be OK
Which now points towards the TX and RX.. Which is another mis match of bits Its a Spektrum DX6i TX a Orange RX and a Lemon RX DSM2 Satellite

Got it down to its main parts now just need a bottom board if anyone knows where to get one from please.

Also downloaded the Naza Lite Assistant. And tested the DX6i and RX with a battery pack and servos and it was not even paired. So it would never have worked. But like I said it was in a whole heap of trouble the way it had been put together.

So rebuilding it and adding extras along the way is best Such as a TX and camera for FPV as well as onboard telemitry. So here is hoping it will look ok after the rebuild?

I just build a 450 and used a Naza-Lite (since turned into a Hex with a real V2) and I think the wires are cut because the ESC's are OPTO's. I don't know enough about opto esc's to know exactly what the thinking process was by the builder. I haven't heard of anyone using opto's with a Naza, but then again I have no real experience with them.

You can get an entire frame kit from a USA store on eBay for less than $20.00 and it will ship fast, not like waiting for an item from a Chinese eBay store (one month or more). You going to want the extra frame, never know how it will fly and how it will land. I have several frames now and not many arms left intact, LMAO!

Your doing what I love to do, take a basket case and figure out how to put it together the right way. I have more fun after a crash than I do actually flying! I know, I'm a weirdo.

As for the upgrade Lite to V2, I couldn't do it with my computers, so I just bought the V2. It's just such a hassle to do the upgrade and have it go back to a Lite from some type of electrical or even a crash.

Something else about the ESC's, you can't calibrate non-DJI ESC's with any Naza product. Do the transmitter version or like I do, use a Naze32 to do all of them at once or singles.

Yes got a complete frame from the far east for £12 and a new large landing frame for £14 So have got another setup if I cannot fixany parts.

As for people calling you a weardo I must be the same because I much rather like to either build invent, make or get something running thats not rather than fly, race or sail them.. Its just in our nature I think I was a apprentice engineer and its the training all those years ago that has got me this yay.. Iv also got a spare Naza lite so maby after this one goes I maight build another you never know.
