Crashed my homemade quadcopter into little pieces. *&$%#

I really screwed up this time. I think my battery cable came undone at 200 feet. Luckily I always fly it over my own house when I get to high altitude. It came crashing down on my own deck... Little pieces everywhere. It came down so fast, and it served as a reminded, these large drones are dangerous toys.

Holyyyy Sheep Dip, Robin!!!! That looked painful.........................uh, there are easier/sneakier ways to acquire spare parts.............

Dragger, I am already hiding spare parts but I think she, my wife, is on to me.

Renov8r, unfortunately I am blaming myself. The battery connector was always extremely difficult to take off after each flight, so I suspect I did not put it on fully in order not to have to pry it off afterwards. I could be wrong but judging from the sudden loss of power during flight, I'm going with it for now. I will test the flight controller and receiver in the near future, but who's to say they do it did not break during the crash. I probably will never know.

That looks like it was waiting to happen.
Probably a good thing. Sort the wiring out. That could have ended much worse.
& myself think that is to close to other peoples property to be flying.
You should do a step by step, of your next build. We can advise. Help wit cutting some weight for a start. Less weight =less pain when it does fall.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of them motor mounts gave way or slipped with vibration. It looked like it swerved to me onto the balcony. Or that could be the fisheye. But if a motor slipped that's what I imagine to happen. Are they all secure.?

i need one of your guy's help...i just built my own quadcopter...(kinda) and i need multiwii version 2.2 because from what i hear it is the only thing that i can use for my FC...i would download it on google code's website but i get an "error: 404 not found" when i try to download multiwii 2.2...and i have no clue how to start a thread on this... :( its almost my Bday and i want ot fly it by then!

because from what i hear on multiple forums (not 100% sure though) my controller board (walkera runner 250 controller board) only works with multiwii 2.2...i cant see the com ports with 2.4 or 2.1...and i cant get much info on how to get it working....

I am not sure I would agree with you about the wiring, while sloppy looking yes, the wiring was solid. I even used small pieces of tape to secure the connectors to the flight controller and and some of the other components that I felt were prone to breaking free. I never liked how loose the GPS connector felt. As for the weight, you are right. There are two layers of carbon fiber on the deck . I really only needed to use one but someone told me that it would be too thin it would not hold up to those Motors. I think they were wrong. That always bothered me but the thing was a pleasure to fly. I never fly it over other people's houses or property, only in my own yard. What happened in the video is precisely the reason I would never fly over someone else's house or property, although my neighbors on both sides have kids and are fascinated by the Drone. For my next build which will be coming up after I test out the salvaged components, I will definitely be posting photos and videos here asking for advice. This is a great resource to get information.

ok, so...

i have multiwii 2.4 and i:

Turn on transmitter
Turn on quadcopter
plug in quadcopter to my laptop
launch multi-wii 64 bit...

and i cant see any of the "com" ports....i have tried to get the drivers...but i dont want a virus...and i think that i might already have them...not 100% though!

I don't think so. I check the motor mounts frequently and they were on tight, Plus, it sounds like it just shut off. I am almost positive the battery connector came off due to me being an idiot and not putting it on all the way because I always had to pry it off. It was always a very sticky connection.
