controller to drone connection

So I have a Eachine EX4, ( JJRC X12 ) and a new MJX Bugs 4 W b4w quadcopter drones. So they say to first connect your phone to the controller wireless after you turn it on. And then open up the application to fly and turn on the drone. Then after the drone does it initialize process in 30 - 60 seconds, it should automatically pair with and then connect to the controller which will show the same matching wifi network ID. It says controller and drone are paired when made at the factory. So then why does it have some times disconnected status in the application.? I do get calibration success for the GPS compass with no problems if I move the drone at least 10 feet away from both the controller and phone during calibration process. Also is that gyro calibration really needed before each flight too? Okay thanks.

Sounds like the app controls your phone wifi to get onto an access point the quad creates. Sounds like you get fpv view from the phone and separately the control signal is sent from controller to the quads. Apps like this that try to control the wifi are flakey at best in my experience (my robovac from evovacs is a pain with setup trying to do this and runcam wifi can be similarly painful to get working, sometimes have to disable lte data temporarily or use other work arounds to get a connection).

Can't say the specific issue here but Android apps using WiFi can be bad for sure (so many thousands of types of Android devices makes it impossible for devs or testers to try on all and keep up with updates)

Okay so my smart phone is fairly old, got it in 7-2017, a Samsung Galaxy J3 Eclipse. Will it work better with a newer phone, even a Apple iphone? I did find out that Enjoy fly app for android is no longer available at the google play store, but is there at the apple store.

Can't say for sure since I only use Android devices myself. I'm not a fan of Apple as a company so despite making quality hardware they get none of my money :D. The open source and derivative nature of Android phones is a problem in this case but generally creates more competition to do something compelling with the devices or software to make them stand out. I don't like the way apple makes their things only work with other apple products and try to keep you buying their stuff, plus I think it's generally over priced for the specs ($1000 for a piece of metal to hold up their $5000 screen :/ )

Hopefully someone with these quads and/or some experience with iPhone will see the thread and chime in.

I have a JJRC X11 (Bugs 4W) and have had problems connecting to an Android 'phone (OnePlus 5). The WiFi connects but the app wont. This got worse after I upgraded to a 4K camera, for some reason. The MRC PRO app proved to be a little better, but not much. I tried all sorts of things, restarting the 'phone etc, but someone suggested switching on Aeroplane mode, then turning the WiFi back on. This solved the problem, but I've no idea why.

Good news problem solved
Bought x12 arura 5 days ago and the aircraft won't connect to GPS and showed 0 or n/a all time and didn't went to position mode so just able to put on altitude mode to manual fly . And now time to give u solution with honor. Its very simple but killed me to find .the problem was my phones .I'm using a Samsung note 20 ultra and galaxy note 10 .it seems the app is not updated and don't match with new phones . Just used iPhone 7 and problem totally solved and GPS find
