I have a custom built quad with a SP Racing F3 flight controller. As soon as I connect my FC to Cleanflight I get the message, "The firmware on this device needs upgrading to a newer version. Use CLI for backup before flashing. Not sure whats going on and do not know what steps to take to fix the problem.Sorry for being a noob,im not too computer savy either, any help would be appreciated

Hi sometimes new firmware is launched so you need to update the chip on the FCB, normally you would save the quad set up of the FCB , then download and flash the chipset update from there website and flash the FCB then put back the quad setup file
Try looking on the cleanflight web site for the updates

I do have an old Spf3, but don't know if this works but try the impulse RC driver fixer.
Download it, have it on/running .
Then try boot the board up.
It may work but this is meant for newer flight controllers. I hear SPR F3 have the better MPU6000 now so it may.
Did you try jumping the boot pins and wipe it.

The pc I have was only bought & used for this hobby. A dell optiplex 755 £30.
I bought a new one so I could go on a simulatior but my daughter seen it & she ended up having it. I'm not computer savy either. But if I can do this, don't lose heart.
You will soon pick it up. We're here to help.
