Can you build a quad with no laptop

I've been researching for my first build and I was wandering how you would go about it without a laptop I have the speedy be app on my phone and I've used it a little too adjust rates and move turtle mode to a different switch on my radio but I'm not a huge computer guy...I was looking into a build on a3 inch quad I wanna use a hakrc aoi board it has blheli s am I to understand that you can use the speedy be app to change prop direction and do forth as long as the esc is running blhelis and not blheli 32?
 
If you have a laptop watching a 10min starter vid on betaflight should be enough to get familiar given you have experience with speedy bee and know some terminology already is just matter of knowing what's where and remembering to save after changes on tabs. If have any sort of computer suggest just install betaflight configurator on it from the GitHub releases page can download for your os (or from betaflight.com for overview or https://github.com/betaflight/betaflight-configurator/releases/ and get the latest release setup file for your os). In some situations (with certain hardware) you may be able to get by with just the mobile apps but in general best to have a computer for saving config dumps from cli and other things for long term.
 
I haven't seen this video yet thanks you always have great info to share...I don't have any computer at all I suppose I could get access to one through family I just wouldn't want to have to purchase one just for this hobby I have found a way around owning computer for years... Lol I sound old as I read that aloud I'm only 34
 
Ah gotcha yah could definitely understand not wanting to buy a computer for this one hobby. Think can probably get by using the phone apps and occasionally jumping to a computer when needed
 
No. You absolutely have to have a Windows 10 or similar computer lol, I tried with a chromeboom and was able to fly many kwads but in the end you realize your limits.

You need a computer.
 
I don't even know if the computer I have access to is Windows 10 or better! Lol I don't have a chrome book it's just a Google pixel 3 phone I was hoping to at least get this first build in the air with the tools at hand I suppose I don't know what I would do with a computer besides quads and you tube videos i just never needed one lol I'm in a pickle it would seem
 
Yah honestly if can find a decent refurb computer ideally with "discrete graphics" (can be under $300 sometime, which is around Chromebook prices) then would be in a better spot for configuring and updating things. Also just good if have a computer that can at least run some sims/games to practice on like "velocidrone" or "lift off" etc

In the end practice time and playing in Sims saves you a ton in real life time and components.
