Can Syma X5SW run the X5HW Altitude Hold board

Been looking at those altitude hold X5s (X5HW and like) and wondering if I could get the receiver to bind with my X5SW tx.. I realized the HW seen to run a different white colored TX, which has spring loaded throttle control. I am also reading it may run on a different protocol?

Anyway, I searched the forum and didn't find anything about this X5SW specifically with an altitude hold board. If anyone has information on which board revisions can work and which wont, that would be great.

Thanks!

Yes it should if you have a blue light controller on your x5sw. You could also change your board in your x5sw instead of getting a new quad.

- I have a x5sc and put in the x5hc board and it works fine - flies in the wind better. And if you have either a x5h or x8h controller ( which I have) you will have the A.H. You can also use your existing controller but not have the A.H. so much but with mine I can get it to hover pretty good just a tad over center with the left controller. My x5sc controller had the blue light - I think I've heard that the green light ones won't bind.
You can try it and for about $12-15 FOR THE BOARD AND 2 SETS OF PROPS - and if it doesn't work you aren't out a bunch of money.

I have the blue LED controller, and its the X5SW board. I guess since I don't have the "auto-centering" throttle I will not have the altitude hold mode, unless I can modify the controller with auto-hold stick or a new controller.

The reason I changed boards was because of the wind bug on these x5s series - I tried taping 3 pennies on the front for more weight and finally just got a board off ebay because I was done fighting with the wind or in my case not even try flying when there was a slight breeze..
I also have a x8hg so I was hoping the tx from that would bind with the new board and it does.

Now here's an idea if you do get a new board and want to try a way to see if your x5s tx would A.H. - on the left stick there is a ring around the stick held down by 4 small screws. I wonder if you screwed 2 other screws on the ring above the stick in the center and one below in the center and put 2 rubber bands from 1 centered screw around the stick and do the same thing on the bottom centered screw - making your stick spring loaded and centered? Just an Idea I thought of yesterday.

You will need a x5h board ($10 - 15) - you can't just get a x5h controller and get the A.H because the board has the barometer on it and you need that for the A.H.

I'm aware about the board, but from what I've read others didn't get the AH to work without self centering controller.. mine is not.

Even if the only way to get the A.H. to work is with a new controller ( and I'm not sure that is true) mine with the board and the x5sc controller did kind of work when I had it just above center ( Plus my rubber band mod idea above) - but even if you really need a new controller - the way it flys is so much better than with the old board in it. Gearbest has the controller for $12.02

Thanks for your input I appreciate it. May try the hover board before I get those brushed FCs from China
