Calling gurus and all you wise folk

So I have a project in mind and I was hoping you would be able to reach into your infinite wisdom and share a bit of it with me. Consider me something of a noob when it comes to drones. I will gladly look things up, but I need a starting point.

I'd like to buy a drone that fits these features:
  • It should be as small as possible
  • It should be able to carry 200g
  • It should be able to fly at least 10 mins on a single charge
  • Preferably no camera
  • Best flight control possible with a budget of less than $400
That's it. I will now heed your advice :)

EDIT: Is it possible to calculate the load a quadcopter can carry based on the specifications usually provided when purchasing one?

you might consider a 3DR Iris - you can get one on Ebay for under $400.

It supposedly has a avg. flight time of 20 min. and can carry a Tarot 2D gimbal (195 gm) with GoPro camera (85 gm) - that should meet your requirements.

I looked at its size (18"x25"x6"). Would you say that's the smallest size I can find given the budget? Because the priority here is size. Thanks!

That's a good point. Let's say the maximum dimensions should be 9"x9"x6" (l x w x h), if at all possible given the other desired features.

So I've been looking at various options. Instead of modifying one, I've decided to build one. I think it'll make an interesting project. Thanks very much for your replies.
