??

So I want this quad to be able to fly for about 10 - 12 min / a distance of about 5-6km with "decent" speed (i.e. Im not that interested in acrobatics so I want it to be able to get off the ground and fly without having to wait like 2 min for it to lift ^^ )
Total weight of quad without batteries and motors (but with a gopro) is estimated at; 720g
My questions;
1) Have i forgot anything important? Like wires and such?
2) How are my remote control devices? Will they work well without much hassle for me? (programming, flashing and such?)
3) Can somebody help me with what type of Motors & propellers I want? I read something about if your flying more for distance you want low Kv and smaller propellers?
4) Can somebody help me with what battery I need for this badboy? (charger also i guess)

If you have any questions or I have forgot something feel free to ask and point it out.
Also I am very grateful for all the help you can give!

Yours sincerely,
Richirichard

Hi mate welcome to the forum , Ok low kv motors need big props , high kv motors need small props , your best to look at what other have flying, go on u tube and type in frame and see what is flying in the time range you want and what they are using , on the battery i would guess at 4 cell 5000mah
ecalc.com this will help you work out flight times just put in weight of quad frame and gopro with mount , and select without drive , the ecalc will work out the rest for you but i would think 800 to 935kv motor with 9 x 4.7 props would give you a good flight time off the top of my head

I'm going through a build myself. I initially had the Turnigy 9XR and the Orange transmitter and receiver on my list as well. After doing a bit more research, I decided to just go with the old Turnigy 9X. It's cheaper and includes the transmitter module and receiver. With some simple soldering and DIY skills (which, if you don't have you wouldn't be scratch building a quadcopter to begin with, right?) you can still replace the radio if that ever becomes necessary.

I also ended up getting the "Electrohub Electronics" kit from Ready To Fly Quads (http://witespyquad.gostorego.com/flite-test-electrohub-electronic-kit-1.html) even though I decided to make my own hub/frame instead of buying the Electrohub frame kit. It was a nice package deal with ESCs already flashed with simonk, wiring harness, flight controller, etc. I still need to place my Hobby King order for the Turnigy, props, batteries, charger, etc.

Hi mate they are well proven motors used on lots of quads , sounds like its going to be a nice quad do a build log with pic , as this will help newbies get started
