Bugs 3 with GO Pro Hero 7 Black

Has anyone tried to fly the Bugs 3 with the GO Pro Hero 7 Black (I have doctored the supplied bracket so it will take the GO Pro mount already, but won't attach it until I gain flight experience, so just using a cheaper camera at the moment).

I here varying opinion, in that, if I use the Wi Fi on the Go Pro for close range FPV it may cause problems with the signal to the Drone and it may fall out of the sky? I have seen two Youtube videos showing this happen.....however they seem to be earlier Go Pro's......The Hero 7 Black can operate at either 2.4 or 5ghz, so if I set it at 5ghz would this definitely stop this problem as the Bugs 3 operates at 2.4ghz? That is of course if the Huawei Mate 20 Pro supports 5ghz as again there are differing opinions on the internet.

Thanks in advance.

Same boat here yet to use my cheap action camera, pending GoPro hero 4

Your sounds better and the 5ghz a distinct advantage. Based on reading the same issues as you re 2.4.

Very pleased with my Bugs so far.

Thanks Roger....I have to admit I have flown Drones with GPS before the Bugs 3 and I am only just getting used to how much thrust to lift it off the pad and then when it lifts when to control the ascent into a hover without it dropping back down again.

I must say, even with a bit of wind today I have had some great low height and distance flights and got to fly it more. Will be better next week when I have more batteries. It is very very sensitive and I need to wear my glasses so I do not make mistaken gestures on the sticks and thrust the drone even further away when I am supposed to be bringing it back.

Suppose I have to admit, with a bit of glare on the Quad at 30 or 40ft my eyes are just not good enough and I cannot tell if it is glare or the forward facing LED. I am open to any flying tips off anyone..... I have stripped the drone back down to the short legs and decided I will not put a camera back on until I fly more proficiently. Now keeping to maneuvers at low height and shorter distances whilst I learn. If it's like this in LOW power what is it gonna be like in power setting 2, that's a few weeks away for definite!!

This forum not only seems to be very friendly it is also full of very helpful experienced people, thank you all!

I recommend removing the front light and installing a 5.8 fpv camera.

Learn the basic controls line of sight then get some fpv goggles, it's the best way to fly.

My bugs 3 I installed the c5830 fpv camera which is made to go in the bugs 8, although a little modification I got it to fit the bugs 3.

Once you go fpv you never go back lol.

Ta Dugdog47.....only had it a few days so if it all tests out ok, I may then feel confident enough to start modding it, a great bit of advice too. Would I be able to record off this camera too?

MJX makes the C5820 camera specifically to fit the Bugs 3. It's a little harder to find than the C5830, and even sellers confuse them, so you will need to do a bit of research to ensure you are buying the right one. As far as using the WiFi signal on a GoPro for FPV, I wouldn't even attempt it.. You won't get any range at all, and it is very likely to mess with the control signal.
