I got this BHr on Sunday, got the 3S batteries on Tuesday and did some racing around the yard, ran into trees, branches, the ground, broke props, etc.

Yesterday I decided to try my hand at LOS freestyle and was doing pretty good with punchout rolls. Then I tried a flip and it got away from me, and instead of just disarming I tapped the throttle to correct while not able to see it’s orientation since it was about 30+ feet in the air…

Remarkably nothing more than the arm and a prop was damaged. I ordered a new set of arms (individual, not the 1 piece version it came with.)

The worst of it all? I was recording on my goggles and forgot to stop the recording before unplugging, so I lost all the footage. ARRRGGG!!!

Poor BabyBird gots a broken wing. Sounds like you're have a load of fun with it though!

Yea, it's been a fun experience so far. I think I will go down to 2S for when I am around the house, though. 3S is faster than I am used to and makes it difficult to get around. Can leave 3S for when I get better or at a park and freestyle. Never understood the fascination of punch outs until I could actually do one worth a damn.

In taking it apart I also found that they corrected the shorting out from the ESC touching the frame by put the motor pads facing front to back and put a thin plastic cover under the stack, so I didn't need the guard I bought. Should have added that info as a card in the box.

I got a laugh out of the sound I heard when I hit branches, reminded me of a weed eater as I hit it and kept on flying. Also reminds me why I want to keep my hands away from the props (and glad for a two-switch arming as I bumped the arming switch on while handling it.)

IT'S ALIVE!!!

My parts from 3Dcrypt.com came in yesterday so I was able to get the HawkR back together again.

I had to repair the rx, a wire broke off mid-flight showing me that there was some lingering damage from the arm breaking crash earlier in the week.

I also added some camera guards from a set of "ears" on the QX-105 camera mount, better looking than a pair of aluminum posts (IMO). The camera guard is hardly noticeable, just at the top corners of the display (until I decide to increase the angle)

Or so I thought...

Turned out that the crash dislodged the feet from the pads of the connector between the ESC and FC boards and since the stack had loosened up, it would drop power at around mid-throttle. Tightened it up and had to resolder a wire back on the RX that came off on the test run. Got everything fixed and flew 4 batteries with good video.
