Blades Fly off in Flight.

1 JasGad M6.jpg jasgadm6.jpg I have tried a new technique for blade arrangement that seems to work very well. The problem I have had a few times is blades flying off in flight due to the nuts coming loose from the high rotation of motors. The one spinning clockwise tighten the nuts and the motors spinning the other way sometime loosen the bolts even with locktight and self locking nuts.

On my hexacopter I took the three motors that spin counter clockwise and mounted them upsidedown but put the blade on the correct way. I reaversed the motor spin from what it was and it works perfect. There is no chance of the motors spinning the blades off because they are now tightening as they spin. All 6 blades tighten the bolts and it flys perfect.

In the pictures you can see the motors turned upside down.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Seems kind of goofy but when you explain it it makes perfect sense. there are no strict rules, only what works. The blades are no longer all on the same plane so there may be some difference in flight/control characteristics but probably not enough to notice. I wonder if the trend will catch on?

I noticed that on the y 6 units that they had upside down motors. On the hexacopters with four arms I found eight motors four up and four down. I was just trying a theory. I have flown it with all up and now like this and I can notice no difference so I am going to stay this way. The only down side is, I do get some blade shots in my videos if I am not careful so I am going to have to lock my gimbal at a slightly lower tilt. I will post later if I have any issues just to let everyone know. On my youtube channel I have four videos of my hexacopter flights in this configuration and so far I am sold.

Great video, Looks like you have a nice family. BTW I am originally from Ohio, Toledo. Grew up running around the islands in the Maumee Bay. I am familiar with Mohican State Park which looks like it's in your neck of the woods. What video editing program do you use? I'm using Magix movie edit pro, It's okay I guess. I haven't done a whole lot with it but it suits my needs so far. The free Go Pro studio software has not worked out well for me at all. Some of the features don't work like the time lapse feature.
