betaflight help!

I'm looking for someone to help me on a quad project... i lack knowledge/experience with BETAFLIGHT (and everything else quad related). we can video call or i can send pictures.

i also recently purchased the long range FrSky R9M and R9mm reciever i would like to install later.

i currently have a FrSky R-XSR Ultra Mini connected to Frsky tyranis x-lite.

The issue is with Betaflight... I plug the FC into my computer, and plug a battery in the quad for power to UnifyPro. Tyranis xlite reports good connection strength to r-xsr. I go to reciever section in BetaFlight, try to move controls on the transmitter and NOTHING happens....

I need someone who can help me get flying!

thanks,
GreenFPV

Okay so it sounds like the configuration for the receiver isn't correct, there's a few places this could be wrong and result in no receiver input showing on the receiver tab. First place to check out is the ports tab make sure you have the correct UART for Serial RX set (should say with FC which to use but can just try them as well no harm switching between them to see which one has the signal input). Second place to check is in the "Configuration" tab, there you have the receiver protocol, believe you'll just select FrSky there (it's a drop down list on the left). If those two things are correct then you should be seeing some sort of signal come into the receiver tab, but start with trying those things out and let me know how it goes, shoot screenshots if you can, if you're lost let me know will plug my quad in to get screenshots.

Also Joshua Bardwell has a ton of videos on every version of BetaFlight basically and troubleshooting videos that will probably help (if you can find the needle in the haystack) https://www.youtube.com/user/loraan/playlists?app=desktop

"Failed to open serial port" when trying to connect... i think i need to reinstall the racerstar 30a driver just so i can get back into BETAFLIGHT

i tried different UART and now im locked out of connecting... ;(
Apologies I've never seen that behavior before myself and have done this on a few flight controllers, sorry to have run you into more trouble, let us know if the driver fix doesn't resolve your issue though it does sound like it's just failure to communicate on the serial bus rather than an issue with the FC itself (also instead of guessing you can typically look up which protocols/receivers hook up to which UART for a given flight controller to be sure you're picking the correct one to turn on Serial RX, guess and check has just worked fine for me in the past).

The fight controller that came installed in my wizard will lock you out if you choose the wrong uart, I believe they call it "bricked". The ONLY way to regain communications was to short the bootloader pins and flash the firmware. I must've done this 10 times or so before I finally got it correct.

Now a days I always make sure to have the correct uart switched on in ports tab. I don't think all flight controllers are that picky though.
