Last week I purchased a Mode 2 Turnigy TGY i10 - au $246..
For some reason they have it online now at au$148.
I even thought of getting another!

However - again for their own reasons..... if you want Mode 1 - its still $248!

The "victim" in me wondewrs if the can clock my IP address and reduce anything I purchased to a lower price just to pi** me off for giving them earache over the au store always having empty shelves!

I bought the Turnigy 9x and switched the mode. Can't you do that?

I think you missed the point....
I don't want a Mode 1 -
I was pointing out that after I paid full money for my Mode 2 - HK reduced the price of Mode 2 - by almost au$100 ...but did not drop the price of the Mode 1 version.
Hence my comments...
The "victim" in me wonders if they can clock my IP address and reduce anything I purchased to a lower price just to pi** me off for giving them earache over the au store always having empty shelves!
I am not a fan of HK. high priced options on shipping -( mainly because they never have stock in their satellite stores) they are just as bad as the cheap stores for sending out defective items, - no free replacement and also lose shipping if a refund is offered - why?? they send out S**T .
I will only use HK for lipos from the Ausssie store - which ship by road and have cost less.

I am still missing the point. The transmitter can be either Mode 1 or 2 if you will set it up. If you don't like HK don't buy there.

New to the hobby but it seems most people use Mode 2. Therefore they sell a lot more and can sell them at a cheaper prive than mode 1.

I dont like buying from the many dropshippers and vendors of fakes emanating from China - or the many online stores such as Gearbest who are well known from sending out defective items - BUT there are few other outlets - especially in OZ which does not have Amazon and few Amazon sellers will ship to Oz.

HK is supposed to be a reliable source for RC stuff and after bad times with the aforementioned Chinese outlets - I tried HK.
My obvious chagrin was seeing au$100 knocked off the price I had paid just days before.
Even worse now because the TGY i10 is currently around us$98 or au$132.

I dont like dentists - but I accept they serve a valid purpose and have to be used at times. Ditto certain outlets when they are the only ones offering what is required.

I am aware that I could change gimbals over - that was not the point. The point(s) were and are that HK dropped the price on one and not the other - and it co-coincided with mine costing au$100 more just a few days previous.
The main point - was a notice to other that they may be a bargin in waiting IF the were considering buying this particular radio..... my infill was intended to be rather tongue in cheek.... which obviously failed....

I think you are right - another factor is that it seems that sales on Mode 1 are slipping and that more Mode 2 are / were being made to cope with increased sales.
Another factor is that TGY are preparing a new radio - with higher spec that the Tarranis - so it could also be a "get rid of stock" move prior to the new model release which will obviously hit sales of everything lower down the spec list - such as the TGYi10.

The web is littered with all the hoops HK makes you jump through to get any satisfaction with defective product, most people just give up. They pretty much always seem to want you to ship it back first.

I must be one of the few then. I very recently ordered an XK X380-C that was reduced to a ridiculously low price point on HK's website (~$230USD, complete with 2D gimbal and 1080p camera). There was NO mention in the online description that these may be returned/refurbished stock, but the unit I received had obviously been opened prior to arriving (as too had at least one other that I know of).

So I complained directly to HK's C/S team.

We've just agreed on a very amicable settlement. (This is the first complaint I've had with HK's product in >5 years of buying R/C car stuff from them)

The real problem with any of these - predominantly - Chinese sellers be it HK, Gearbest type or ebay - is that they KNOW some of the stuff they send IS defective. I have long proffered my idea that legit dealers in many countries have warranties to honour and replace defective items. Those rejects are returned to the "main wholesale/maker" or has license to dump them on whoever will pay enough for a job lot to recover some outlay. The rejects are then foisted off to unsuspecting buyers online and Chinese sellers do not have any real warranties worth the taking.
The RTF through to - even DJI Phantoms are massed produced by workers on poor wages by western standards and on a treadmill of none stop work from start of shift to finish - and quality control - as DJI are an example - is not always as it should be.

HK - purchased CC3D FC cost more than eBay etc - and shipping (their Au store is listed as Sydney - but its about 60 miles south of Sydney Metro and about 140- 150 miles from my front door) - was around $6.99. It arrived... linked to computer to update it... das ist kaput! or as I thought - its another f****g lump of junk.
They wanted a video - so I did one. Do I want replacement or refund - I should have opted for a replacement - but had already ordered one off eBay from the same seller I got my first board from ( its arrived and no issues) I opted for refund - mistake - they never refund shipping cost.. I quote - " Because you already used it".
Now I am long in the tooth, English and conditioned to - if its faulty... return it and we will replace it FOC or dump it and we'll send a replacement - refund sir.. no problems. AND The shipping is included - a full refund.
How come a seller can send out junk - and not accept the logic that its the seller who fowled up not the buyer so why should HK or any other seller not be responsible for their own failures?
HK - no quibble return! As long as its unopened in the box and you just changed your mind or maybe landed a better deal elsewhere... OK send it back. BUT you lose shipping paid AND they only pay 80% of unit cost!
I have had 7 orders with HK and the main complaint I have is never having stock in Au store and being forced ( if you want to buy the item) to pay international shipping - and its higher in cost than most!
I have described an issue with a gimbal elsewhere - short version is no help, or advice.. after saying I did not want to start an RMA I just wanted a gimbal to replace the busted one.
RMA or go away was the unspoken message. I fixed it myself.
HK do have flash sales and sell off at low prices. I suppose had I waited to buy the TGYi10 for a week - I would have been pleased to buy it - save au$100.

If you're unhappy buying from online sellers, spend your hard-earned $'s supporting your local hobby store! At least that way you'll receive the products expected, and the customer service to go along with it - I'm sure they'd appreciate your custom.

As the old phrase goes:

"You want it Quick, you want it Good, you want it Cheap… pick 2"!

This is Australia! There way well be a "hobby store" - but there are none local - and none that I have found in Australia. The nearest ( in content stocked) is JayCar - which is a " all things Electronics" store - a bit of a less of everything Radio Shack. They sell RTF stuff, but not radios/rx- motors, ESC, FC, etc,.
Were there such a store - I would have been using it!
Unlike you I have not been in RC too long... August 9th 2015 placed my first order for an RTF and August 21st picked up my Phantom P3P.
I just got into the self build stuff to understand more ( but I really do not) and learn to fly ( which according to FPV FreeRider sim - I am not progressing to much! ) - without the aid of DJI brilliant auto systems!

Had the Syma X8W I ordered actually been a "normal" functioning RTF quadcopter - it may have been enough to learn on - as it was - it was not and by then I had found this forum and discovered the weird and wonderful world of self build and some nice guys who will help folk sort it out!

Ah yes - Aussie Geography… even more ridiculous than our Canadian geography! ;) (a fellow relocated Brit on this side of the interweb too!)

Well sir, in the words of Captain Darling:
