After my last crash and being in the middle of a move and getting frustrated from the hobby i haven't flew in almost a year!
but finally got everything together today headed out side - then out of nowhere it started raining....
i literally drove around for like 2 hours until it stopped raining and i found a nice open field, and had fun!
I really like my new setup, before i would have issues with the battery coming off while flying and coming off when crashing, which would make me lose video feed and was really frustrating.
also the old antenna i had (stock falcon 250 antenna) was AWFUL, i highly recommend using straight antennas and bending them up a little, because those 90 degree antennas can hit the ground and totally unscrew loose and fry your vtx and cut your video feed!!
Also the old antenna would get loose mid flight a lot of times and swing to the side and start hitting my props and making me crash.... it's nice to finally have a setup where when i crash it's because of my piloting mistakes rather than things coming off!
but now i use a velcro strip going straight down the length of the battery underneat, then use the strap to strap it down across, so it is secured both ways like a cross, and now it has no movement at all!
I have gotten quite rusty though, i have lost all concept of throttle control
Imo one of the hardest things to do is to simply fly low and stable. Its easy to just go up real high and fly it like a video game with unlimited space in the sky, but to fly low and stable is very difficult so hoping i can get better at that!
I only crashed twice! both times because i was trying to practice landing lol. First time i went to crash and fell over hard - but still had video feed cus everything was strapped down so nicely, so just turned it over and went back in the air!!
second time i crashed even harder and it was scary because i was fuming white smoke like CRAZY, insane thick white smoke like car exhaust, and i thought for sure i was going to lose my quad to a fire.
but i ran to it and unplugged the battery and let it cool down, then i went home and cleaned the whole thing with air duster, and now its working great. i'm hoping i got this build good enough to where i'll never have to take it apart again unless i crash really hard and break something like an arm.
From my experiences, the cause of "magic smoke" has always been tiny dirt pieces causing a short. Blasting the whole thing clean with air duster has fixed it every time!
also im using a 1500mah battery instead of 2200, i seem to be getting the same flight time, and i feel like the 2200 battery felt significantly heavier and the weight ended up hampering the extra capacity. I think the 1500 mah battery flies much smoother and nicer.
